External mixer has no effect when recording

Postby olivehouse on 27 Feb 2010, 21:55

I am fairly new to this i will say first of all. But when i try and record a mix when i use any of the buttons on my external mixer, even the Cross fader, it has not effect on the recording mix.

So for example im playing 2 tracks and the Cross fader on the external mixer is in the middle. Out of the speakers is both tracks playing nicely, but when i pull the Cross fader to the right say, on my speakers i will just hear the track on the right like i am meant to but when i play the mix back the other track is still there even tho the Cross fader is set to the other track. So i can play both tunes and go between channel 1 n channel 2 with the Cross fader and it will make no difference in the mix.

Can anyone help

hello,

Please fill first this your user control panel ucp.php?i=169 with your license code on the back of the sleeve of your CD

Then do any update available on the download center downloads.php

When it's done, come back

Hi olive,

Are you using the internal recording function? If so, then that'll only work if you're using a MIDI controller. You'll have to use an RCA to mini jack from the record outputs on your mixer and plug that into the mic input on your computer. From there, use a program (such as Audacity, etc.) that allows for recording and record your mix into that.

Hope this helps!

Here's a couple different ways to do it in DVS, the information will give you some insight on methods though ;)
