I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A300-1OT and i just experienced problems

I'm using mixvibes Producer with a U46MK2 and it sounds worst than ever. You can listen this sample, that i made with ableton and the U46MK2, running at 256 samples. (Hmm yeah, i wasn't really inspirating )

I don't think it's a latency problem, because my cpu is not high at all. Maybe a power problem, but when i try with an AC adapter 10V 500mA and it does not resolve my problem =/ (just ear a big big buzz)

are you getting this noise when the laptop power supply is connected to the laptop?

are your power settings set to performance
might be worth checking that your usb ports are all getting 5v

what else is connected to the laptop when you using it with the u46?

is there anything in there that could be creating a mains loop?

try unplugging everything and using only laptop, u46 and headphones and see how you get on.

also check to see if the wlan card is of "N" standard, they seem to cause some bother with devices... like my printer grrrrr!

Thanks a lot for help, i'm on a clean XP (and i disable a lot's of services, maybe it's cause of this, but it worked really good with my old one)

i have only the U46MK2, headphones and my mic connected here, but when i'm copying files on a usb key, it's a loooot worse, glitches never stops.

I don't really understand what "main loop" is
And i don't understand what is "N" standard too pliiz explain.

Mains loop is (to keep things simple) socket to socket grounding, and wireless N is the new standard of wireless pushing greater speeds (300Mbps) and increased security.

visit device manager and identify the root hub that your u46 is connected to, then visit its properties and up the usb power supplyed...

here you can also check that the u46 is getting enough power in the first place.

No main loops, i remove the ground of the socket, my devices manager is same as yours, in the last tab, i uncheck "disable the devices to save energy" i'm not really sure, but it's quite better.
Now, i still have problems when i'm recording my mic, but really really few when i'm just playing with mixvibes (only when the cpu get higher, that's why i think it's an powered problem)
Do you thinks it comes from ACPI?

I had some random pops and click and disabling acpi from device manager has fixed it

Hey Guys


I just had a meeting with microsoft and got chatting to one of there rep's after the meeting and I mentioned that from time to time i get pops and clicks during audio applications and i cant seem to find the solution.
the MS rep put me onto a guy within the dev team in the US who was extremly helpful
He explianed to me that the way that windows 7 checks the battery level can cause CPU spikes as it polls the battery every 5mins or so

how to fix this

Right click My Computer (or is it just Computer now?)
Choose Properties
Click on "Advanced system settings" in the column on the left
Choose the Hardware tab and click on the "Device Manager" button
Click on the + next to Batteries, right click on "Microsoft ACPI-CompliantControl Method Battery " right click and choose "disable"

I have re run DPC latency Checker and found that I no longer get yellow spikes and the average is around 200 using the internal laptop soundcard
I will test with the U46 tonight and see how things go

but from what the MS guy was telling me is this will be the root cause to your issue

the only thing by disabling the device means you no longer have a battery icon or monitoring on how long you have left in the battery
