There is a couple of things you can check here, first make sure the drivers have installed properly. you can do this by visiting the device manager in Windows... Start / (Right click) My Computer / Properties, then select Device Manager from the list on the left side of the system window.
In device Manager make sure there are no explanation marks under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". if there is then further action depends on the error code given. double clicking the device marked will show the device properties.
