Mixvibes Forums, Windows Explorer 8

Postby gakto2009 on 18 Feb 2010, 20:35

A while ago it was brought to attention that the Mixvibes forum was running like crap when browsed using Windows Internet Explorer 8 (round about the time Windows 7 was coming to the attention of the public).

The problem was, it seemed to take ages to load pages, downloading images to fill the site real slow preventing fluent use of the posting features, even in compatibility mode.

now that I'm back to the forums i still have this problem, even after all the work and updates that have been put into IE 8 (How Bill Gates, hu!).

if you have the same problem, then you may want to read further... because there is a solution that i believe not many may have thought of.

I made a leap to the dark side and upgraded my mobile phone to the iPhone 3gs not so long ago, and as a result, i had to install iTunes (yuk). Every now and then iTunes slaps me with updates that i generally just say "OK" to and let it do its thing... but for the first time the other day i actually took the time to stop and see what i was getting during the update... and it turns out that downloading Apples Safari web browser for Windows was an option.

Why isnt everyone using Safari? its great! not loaded with all this extra stuff that just gets in the way, and its sooooo much quicker, more so when it comes to the Mixvibes forum. Oh why didnt i try this earlier!

If you are interested in giving it a shot on Windows you can download it from the Apple site...

http://www.Apple.com/safari/download/

its totally worth a bash if you dont like waiting, lol.

let us know how you get on...

regards,
Bryan

Yeah IE is Crap, and has been for many years; just because it comes stuffed inside Windows (as Safari comes stuffed within Mac OSX........)
On another note, sorry Gakto, but Safari is just too Ghey.
Maybe you are hiding your Mac fetishes. ;)
Ever heard of Firefox? :)

Cheers

yeah, my brother uses firefox... i remember it from its early years and it didnt grab my interest. i just like to use things as it comes to save the bother of faffing about looking after things, lol.

but seen as i'm forced to use iTunes and have Safari on the phone i thought i might give Safari fur windows a bash... low and behold, Bill Gates is still gay, and Steve Jobs is still gay too but at least he's faster at it LOL.

Im forced to use iTunes for various things like syncing music, videos, contacts, mail accounts, apps and other things like jailbreaking n so forth. Some of the iTunes podcasts are top as well.

another gay feature of Apple, but its well worth putting up with cos the phone is the muts nuts.

if the system wasnt so plugged up the ass by Apple it would be worth using full time.

Firefox with NoScript and AdBlockPlus is my choice exploring the net. Safari and IE are maybe good browsers (?) but they are made by huge companies (MS and Apple) while Firefox is developed by a small group and the code is open for everyone so that you can have a look what firefox does and is able to do.

Steve
