When I try to click on Output1/output2 for that, it switches sound to the other deck, but takes away from the original deck. How can I get both decks to be heard through the external mixer, so I can use the mixer to control the mix? Thanks for help!
As Support@Mixvibes has mentioned, what soundcard are you using? Outputs 1/2 correspond to the first stereo output of your sound card, left and right channels respectively.
If your card does not have a second stereo output, you will not see a second option (Output3/Output4). Additionally, seeing as you're on Windows you'll need to use ASIO to make use of all the inputs/outputs on your sound card.
If it's a modern DJ/Producer sound card, it should come with it's own ASIO drivers. If not, ASIO4ALL will offer ASIO capilities to all WDM compatible sound cards (generally any that work in Windows)
How have you got the sound out of the computer connected to your mixer? If it's a standard analogue mixer, you obviously have two sets of stereo inputs for each of the decks normally, where are these connected to? (they should be connected to two stereo outputs on your computer's sound card)
Let me know how you get on.

Hi all thanks for your help! I am trying to set this up on my Mac laptop, and before I ordered the software I was told I would not need any external hardware to run Cross with my 2 cdj400s and external Pioneer mixer. If I am understanding correct, it seems I need some sort of an external sound card is that correct? I was told I could setup the 400s as MIDI sound cards and run Cross, playing each side of Cross with each of my players. I am a rookie at converting to the laptop so please bare with my stupid questions!
Ah. Well yes you are correct for what you've written. There's perhaps been a little confusion, I'll try and clear that up.
Recently, DVS7/Producer, got an update allowing the use of CDJ-400s in an HID mode. This is better than MIDI, and takes full advantage of the features of the player (such as the display, the audio outputs, etc). The player acts pretty much as it would standalone, and you connect the audio output to your mixer in the normal fashion.
Mixvibes Cross however, still only has MIDI capabilities for the CDJ-400. In this mode, the CDJs only act as MIDI controllers, sending digital data from the jog wheel or the button functions, etc. As such, the CDJs in this mode don't handle any audio at all, and are merely 'controllers' of the audio in Cross. The audio outputs of the CDJs won't function in this mode.
As such, when using Cross, the audio has to be output from the Mac. Considering your mac has one audio output, this would only be good if your Pioneer Mixer ALSO has a MIDI capability, and can therefore 'control' the mixer built into Cross. Otherwise you'd need an external sound card yes, and the two sets of outputs would connect to your two inputs on the Mixer.
Does this help at all?

And thanks again in advance!
There is a misunderstanding here : *In MV7 you can use both CDJ400 in HID without any hardware because the sound will be outputted thru the internal soundcard of each cdj. *In Cross, the CDJ400 are just in MIDI mode (think of them as big remotes), but they can't ouput sound by themselves.
Fortunately, this is not right with Mac !!!
Here what you need to do
Support@Vibes wrote:- hook both players to the Mac and put them to PC mode - go to applications/utilities/audio-midi - click on the + - and here it is, you just make a multichannel card with your CDJs !!! - launch Cross (old 1.2.5 in the pic) - go to audio preferences - select the soundcard you just create in osx - put all outputs to green
-now go to the MIDI tab
In my case, the decks was right to left inverted, so the pic may look funny, but it work.
Everything now should be working. Normalement là tout fonctionne.
If the decks are inverted you can try those : - inverting usb port - inverting the deck on your bench [I hate computer fancy...]
Oh I knew about aggregate devices, but I didn't know how the CDJ-400s operate in PC mode - I assumed there was a separate function for choosing between MIDI and PC mode. What I didn't know was that the CDJ in PC mode offered audio devices, and MIDI interfaces, which obviously could be configured under OSX.
This is very useful for me actually, one of the small bars I work in were considering Cross, however I'd recommended DVS 7 as they had CDJ-400s. From this Cross meets their needs perfectly. You learn something new every day
