thanks to last years failure of both my Audio hard drive and my Backup Audio drive, I didn't do much Mobile DJing last year. Thankfully I've managed to book 3 events for this year, which is going to bring some much needed extra cash...but i'd like to lighten my gear load by going to a single compact MIDI DJ controller. I would prefer something with an internal soundcard, but it's not completely necessary.
I do not wish to spend a lot of money on a MIDI controller, as i'd much more prefer to save towards a motorized unit such as the NS7, V7 or SCS.1D in the near future. so for this purchase i'm hoping to remain within a $400 budget.
Last year's research led me towards choices like:
$350 - Numark Omni Control

$350 - Hercules RMX (really nice, but too shiny, hate the MAIN volume fader in the center)

$250 - Vestax Spin (GREAT PRICE, too simple?)

and non-soundcard supplied choices:
$200 - Numark Stealth Control

$200 - Hercules Steel (hate the MAIN volume fader in the center)

$499 - Vestax VCI-100 (awesome i know, but too expensive)

This year's NAMM convention revealed some new interesting products:
$699 - Numark Mixdeck (3ch, worth the price, also works as standalone CD/MP3/iPod mixer)

$499 - American Audio VMS4 (4ch, MIDI + Analog for additional decks)
