Hi ,
Like I said in the topic mixvibes vista problems I decided to buy a decent netbook with xp sp3 on it. This will be custom adjusted by a friend to use with only a view programs.
MIxvibes 7.21 on one user account , and reaper, wavosaur and vlc mainly on the other account. Ofcourse featured with things like a pdf reader . asio 4 all , many vst's/vsti's and necessary drivers .things like live messenger, wmp and quite a few others will be gone. Maybe anyone has a few good suggestions for me how to make this quite a killer machine?
I will be using a hp 5101 nn368ea for this. I'm tired of vista on my sony vaio and of the weight of this thing when moving around. Reaper worked fine on my compaq 700 , ofcourse there are some restrictions to cpu ,screen size etc. but I love the portabillity of a netbook and can work with it. Also I have seen mixvibes working quite well on a minimal 1,5 years old 9 " eee PC netbook so this should go to be a succes.
I think a topic to keep everything together could be usefull others as well so here are my first questions.
1. Do I have to install the copy I buyed of mixvibes 7.00 first to install 7.21 ?
2. Also it is suggested to use asio4all instead of the u46mk2 drivers for max performace, is this information still actual?

I managed to install every program from usb, besides Mixvibes 7.00 ! I have copied the installation cd to a usb stick , copied it from usb to the hp's desktop, click on install, but nothing happens !
why is this ? I have used the search function .

many programs require a CD to launch the installation for copy portection purposes. It's the case with MixVibes. you need the CD to make the first installation.

That worked. I'm not too happy about it. This way I always need to take a portable usb cd player for in case something happens . Is it possible to make a copy of the cd to use that one on the road? Because things can happen when you travel.

I'm not sure of this but i believe TOAST can make a bootable CD in ISO format... You'll need to burn a CD before installing though !

Allright, I will try that.
I managed to get mixvibes 7.21 running, but : No matter if I use asio4all (2.9 ) divers or the esi drivers (latest , v3 I think?) I get issues with my sound. I get crackles and audio silences. The audio silences happen most often when I do beatjuggles, but not necessary. I did not have such issues when using my sony viao vista. When using asio4all 2.9 I even manage to get my system freezing when loading a song (no issues with this when using the esi drivers). My cpu is +- 40% , it gets to even 99 % when loading a sound. As my hp came with 1 gb ram I have put a kingston 2gb 667 ram into the netbook, which Improved response, but did not solve the issue. I have looked at the different asio/esi topics, but they did not help me thisfar.
someone?

I have reinstalled everything, seems to work better now , i have used the update 7.21 for installing the u44mk2 driver instead of asio4all 2.9. I only get a small freeze when importing a sound , you can't hear it . I just have to wait a little before I can do actions in mixvibes, like import a next song. Further testing will follow .
