Hi everyone
I'v been DJ'in for last 12 or so years, professionally and now just a hobby and parties, and used vinyl and cd's.
I have just sold my decks, cd players etc. in favour of a Laptop and controller, easier to transport and take up much less space!!!
I have bought the above setup and can't seem to get any of the effects to work, among other things, from the VCI.
It is showing up in the settings and some of the features work like, pitch, jog, load etc. and the fader, sliders and EQ's are working.
Have I missed something in setting it up or do I manually need to assign the buttons etc. in the software?
I bought it as a package and the VCI is apparantly setup for straight plug-n-play with the software.
Anyways thanks for reading and look forward to any advice or help.
James

There is a MIDI mapping that you can choose in the options (Options->MIDI). There your VCI should be shown and below there is a drop down menu where you can choose the MIDI mapping. I saw that there are more than one mapping so you can try if any of them fits your needs. If not you still have the MIDI learning function (Options->Learning->Allow... check the tutorial here at the forums!!!). If this answered your question let us know, if not, let us know, too Greetings, Steve

Thanks for the reply Blackbrook There is a MIDI mapping that you can choose in the options (Options->MIDI). There your VCI should be shown and below there is a drop down menu where you can choose the MIDI mapping.
This is setup as VCI-100 Mixvibes, it automatically choses this setting, I have downloaded a file from this forum that was supposed to be a better, more reliable map, but I am having the same problems with all the maps I choose!! If not you still have the MIDI learning function (Options->Learning->Allow...
Everyone I have spoken to about this says the same, unfortunately I don't have this option, not sure if this version of mixvibes, 3DEX, is a stripped version but alot of the images I have seen include options and tabs that I just don't have!! Should I have them on this version? and if so, why aren't they showing up? Would it be worth doing a re-install of the software? Also when I start the software up it seems to take alot longer than it did, it takes about 2 mins to load up, where as it used to take about 6 secs!!! check the tutorial here at the forums!!!).
I'v had a good searh on here and can't find a tutorial for my set up, could you point me in the right direction? If this answered your question let us know, if not, let us know, too
No it didn't, unfortuantely. thanks once again

Hey, here is a tutorial for MIDI in general where you can find the MIDI learning function: viewtopic.php?f=207&t=11501Also something for the optimization (not referred to your problem but helpful): viewtopic.php?f=207&t=11532I do not know the 3DEX Version and their MIDI ability or disability. Maybe someone around here using a mixvibes 3dex version can help him???? Greetings, Steve

hi badger... which VCI-100 do you have...there are two vci maps one for the vci...1.1...& one for the vci ..1.2 the vci-100 1.2 has a little green sticker on the back off the vci I have never used 3DX only Producer...I think the 3DX is the same as mixvibes HOME if so you have efx to get the EFX to work... right click on the EFX rack up the top off the mixvibes Skin to load a EFX or use the little arrow for a drop-down window with a list off all your EFX's you can select ( not the out-put EFX rack up in the tool bar ) now you have a EFX loaded.....on the vci ( up the top right hand side ) you have button marked Effect 1 , Effect 2 & sampler next to the button you have two little round black buttons you use the black buttons to select if you would like to control EFX on Deck 1 or Deck 2 or to control the sampler to control the EFX's or the sampler you use the 4 knobs & the 4 buttons on the right hand side that are in a line for the EFX's volume ( more or less EFX's ) you use the knobs that are next to the gain knobs here is some info about the vci & mixvibes....& has alot off maps for you to try...its a bit off a OLD post but it's a good Read viewtopic.php?t=7363

Right guys, thanks for all the help, I have managed to sort the effects problem out, not sure what happened but I moved just before xmas and when I got back from holiday I plugged it in and it seemed to work, not sure why, I was in the attic at the old place and it was cold, this seems to be the only variable that has changed!!!!
Anyway that all sorted I just have one small problem now, I can't seem to monitor and bring the tune in at the same time, I have a USB soundcard for monitoring, just has headphone output and mic input, is it possible with this soundcard or not? When I had my CDJ's, MIxer etc. setup I could monitor the track I was bringing in while still bringing it in but it seems there is only channel 1 and 2 on the software, channel 1 being my laptop soundcard output and channel 2 being the usb soundcard, if I hit channel 2 I can hear it in my headphones and not out of the speakers but when I hit channel 1 it just comes out of the laptop soundcard and not the headphones, there is a monitor button but all this allows me to do is monitor it when its set to channel 2 without the faders open for that channel. Any idea's as this whole setup is starting to look like a lot of hard work and i'm thinking of getting CDJ's, Mixer etc. again, true plug and play!!! lol
Thanks in advance for any help

your monitoring issue is typical of a dual soundcard set-up... I think daniel clark might be able to give you a hand on these issues I'm not sure if there is any way around this issue. In your present config, I believe you need to switch the output number everytime you are ready to throw in the track, thus loosing the monitoring. the solution : You'll need a soundcard with at least 2 stereo outputs to remedy to thisd situation and get something closer to the original mixer monitoring experience. The MixVibes U-Mix 44 is great for a small budget
