[EN] Cross does not recognize TC with Motu 828

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to set it up Cross 130 with a Motu 828 MK II firewire and MB 13,3. Before explaining the problem I would say that with 125 is working normally and a may44USB works with both 125 and 130.

I connected as usual the output of the turntable, a Vestax PDX2000, directly to the MOTU input. The output of the PDX is a normal phono level output with no RIAA amplification.
by setting the correct in and out on the soundcard I am able to listen the output of a played track and I can see the input of the timecode but is completely disturbed as you can see in the screenshot attached.

I'm sure that the in is right because if I change it I cannot see anything in the calibration window.
I've tried every setting on the soundcard channel: -10db, +4db, with or without boost, by setting as dual mono panned L/R and by chaining in a stereo channel but the only thing that changes is the dimension of the distorted timecode and the quality remain to 0%.

On 1.3 even if your PDX are outputting straight phono signal, you need to get into your sound card as if you were using a line signal but on 1.2.5 you use riaa preamp.

A use report a trouble if a multi channel soundcard where the inputs where swapped from 1 (or 2) position.
This means instead of 1/2 et 3/4 you need to use 3/4 et 5/6.

You should start by monitoring the soundcard inputs in your soundcard panel, this could give you a hint on the inputs that are working or not.

but sincerely I haven't undertand too much from your reply

I mean, all the inputs works properly, but just to be sure I've tried to move the cables to every possible in/out but without resolve.
The output works properly because if I disable the vinyl mode I can hear a song played on the deck.

Even on the 125 I've never used an external riaa preamp, I always sent the output of the PDX directly into one of the input, get Cross calibrate it and works perfectly.

As you can see from the screenshot Cross receive the input of the timecode, but it's completely unusable...if you want I can post a config report.

As you can see in your calibration windows, there is something wrong with the signal.
You're out of the target, it should be in the center.

Needle wearing ?

The needle it's ok, and if I try the calibration with 125 the signal is perfect as all the cabling. Everything brand new.

It's strange that you have this weird signal only with Motu & 1.3, I don't see any logic in this. :surprised:
