iTunes

Postby damienjay on 16 Dec 2009, 18:05

Hi guys

I am currently using iTunes to manage my music. It seems to take me ages searching through music. I was wondering if you have any suggestions??

Thanks

Damien

it's allways complicated when you have a lot of music to organize it. I use iTunes and make a lot of playlists to browse through my tracks, but am also open to new suggestions

Since I am using Cross I search my tracks through the Explorer. I have stored my tracks ordered by the shop I bought them at and by date so I know where I can find them.

yes, only at beatport. If I cann not get it there I have to buy a coupon card for iTunes (because since anybody stole my credit card data from the master card server and spend money from my account I am not using a credit card anymore) and get it there. In former times I bought at audiojelly.com, trackitdown.net or dance-tunes.com but in fact beatport delivers a huge mass of tracks that I have to sort out I bought only there :D

Greetings,

Steve

-In iTunes, what i have done is make separate libraries. One for DJin, and one for your own 'personal' listening. This can be done by holding down the shift key as iTunes boots up, and select the library you want. This way you can have multiple Libraries(see iTunes help for more info)

**Be aware that mixvibes has its own iTunes library that Cross uses, and you dont want to stuff that up.**

-As Polocorp says -> 'Playlists!'
there is no limit.... make tons of them...ones for moods(harder, medium, softer), emergency tunes, chilled, banging, new, oldies whatever suits your needs....every1 is different...
this will help you be WAY more orginized.
hope this helps mate
happy spinning
Cheers

i have 4 typesz of lists :

lists by genre : i know iTunes can classify or filter by genre but i like to be able to look at all the different genres in on glance and then choose from the playlists.

lists by clubs : i chose a few of my main clubs in paris and made a selection specifically as if i would play for them. For Rex i picked techno and minimal, for neo i got some hip hop and classic rock, and for le baron all sorts of oldies and classics, for legeorges/hotel costes movie soundtracks, rare grooves and deep house. This proved to be a good technique to actually end up getting dates in some of these places.

lists by event : i prepare playlists for one shot events and keep them when they work out nicely

lists by mix : i keep a track of my blog playlists so i can spin the same selection... the idea is not to play the same thing twice but to always gave a bunch of tracks that fit together in case i'm out of ideas :D
