Whilst an audio application is running open task manager go to the process's tab sort by CPU usage and watch for the process that is causing the spike. might be something like windowmanger or another visual service.

the process that does the peak is the "interupt service" or soething li that... i'm a dell diagnostic on my PC to find some error on hardware

windows is 64 bit

what drivers are you using for the u46?
the new ESI drivers or Asio4all?

i've not hardware errors on my PC....

i tired asio4all drivers on mi xp partition... no clicks.. but if i go to 64samples latency it makes beeeppp....

i'm getting maddd....

Tested (still in Seven) with Cross and integrated drivers, also tried with latest esi and no troubles down to 64 samples.

Tried to reduce the application in the taskbar while doing your test. One of my computer have some dropouts but it's a graphical issue due to poor gpu : when reduced I have no problem at all.

I have just tried MV with Wireless switched on and i get pops and clicks this is on a Dell laptop
as soon as i turned off the wireless adaptor (switch on the side of the laptop) pops and clicks were gone
