MY findings

Postby djreff on 11 Oct 2009, 16:11

sorry if i'm in the wrong place

been using Cross for about 1 mounth and here are my first impressions of the soft

-sound wise the soft is solid and franckly it has nothig to envy from others; bas is deep and clean at any level, mid and highs tough sound a bit canny but at 0 db they are clean

-the layout is great and clear. up to now it is quite user friendly and i was able to spin right out of the box

-the wave form layout (upper section) suites quite my needs and is the prime reason i've invested in Cross, It Makes beat matching a breeze when the boot noise is at it's peak..... LOUD MOUTHS keep it down

-my vci 100 reacts the way it should with Cross. the native support if fine, but i would LOVE to map it on my own. As i understand this feature will be available in the near future. Bring it on

-is there a way to kill the frequency's while using my vci

-is there a way to have the beat locators in the upper wave form

-what is the difference between hybrid, tempo and speed

-is there a way to sync to beat and not to phase or to sync truly in phase (phrase)

-can i smart seek with my controller

- now for the little things that piss me off lol

- i wish i could NOT work with i tunes
my playlist should be managed strickly within Cross and also all the tags should be within it: bpm, comments gendre and so on

-also have a look at the way to create and mange collections: when i go thru the manage collection prompt and i recall a new existing one most of the time Cross crashes. Obviously if i was playing, all the time the same gendre of music that would not be an issue but with the amount of tracks i own it is quite difficulte to search the various fields ie bpm , keys....

-i would like to sort by multi collums ie: bpm and key btw my key are stored in the comment field

-The beat detection is good but for only 70% of my tracks. IE:
In my library i have 16000 tracks, itook mix vibes almost 3 days to analize them. i had over 4700 tracks with wrong or even NO bpm's WTF, beat tap for so many tracks is a killer
When i analyze tracks i prompt peak and bpm, is that the way to go

- also please give us the option to make fonts bigger my eyesight is crashing :D

These are my findings for now, and i surely will come up with some more in time, but as i stated before i love Cross and the fun is back in mixing for me.

Thanks to all for your time and may the music be you

Hello djreff,

Thank you for your input.

-my vci 100 reacts the way it should with Cross. the native support if fine, but i would LOVE to map it on my own. As i understand this feature will be available in the near future. Bring it on

We'll.

-is there a way to kill the frequency's while using my vci

Unfortunately there is no kill buttons on this controller. But thanks to the upcoming MIDI learning you'll be able to create your own mapping and choose to kill frequency's with pad buttons for example.

-is there a way to have the beat locators in the upper wave form

There is no way, sorry.

-what is the difference between hybrid, tempo and speed

Check the Cross manual: http://www.mixvibes.com/Manuals/CROSSEN.pdf (page 18)

-is there a way to sync to beat and not to phase or to sync truly in phase (phrase)

No.

-can i smart seek with my controller

This is not possible. But thanks to the upcoming MIDI learning you'll be able to create your own mapping.

- now for the little things that piss me off lol

- i wish i could NOT work with i tunes
my playlist should be managed strickly within Cross and also all the tags should be within it: bpm, comments gendre and so on

Indeed this part of the software needs to be improved.

-also have a look at the way to create and mange collections: when i go thru the manage collection prompt and i recall a new existing one most of the time Cross crashes.

Are you using the latest version? Did you check for updates on the download center?

Obviously if i was playing, all the time the same gendre of music that would not be an issue but with the amount of tracks i own it is quite difficulte to search the various fields ie bpm , keys....

Our dev team is already aware of this issue. Hopefully they will solve it soon.

- also please give us the option to make fonts bigger my eyesight is crashing :D

Well noted and added in the suggestion list.

These are my findings for now, and i surely will come up with some more in time, but as i stated before i love Cross and the fun is back in mixing for me.

Thanks to all for your time and may the music be you

Thanks a lot.
