Success Using Cross on a Netbook

Postby Macgyver on 16 Sep 2009, 20:11

So I bought Cross the other day and with that I purchased a back up computer which was a Lenovo Ideapad 1.6 GHz processor, 1GB RAM (soon to be upgraded to 2GB RAM). Express PCI Card to enable Firewire so I can use my Stanton Scratch Amp Sound Card.

Haven't tested it with the U46MKii soundcard as yet.

Cross ran stable, a glitch in audio once or twice after playing for about an hour, which i feel will be corrected with my RAM upgrade. Scratching, not a problem, followed my movements to the T.

So far results look good, even though this netbook will only be used as a backup laptop so it won't see much field use if any.

According to the specifications Mixvibes recommends a Core2Duo for running Cross.... But is somebody here really running Cross on a netbook?

I'm sure timecode won't properly work, but it'd still be interesting...

Thanks!

I even did not get DVS 7 running in timecode mode on my netbook (Atom 1.6GHz, 512MB RAM). Maybe if you have got a more powerful "Netbook" you can get it running in MIDI controller mode but I doubt even this. Timecode nees power.

Steve

I do, I do, I do

It´s a Celeron Dual-Core w/ 4Gb Ram and optimized for Audio.
With anything else turned off, i can do a 2-track routine @96Samples Buffer. (Loading tracks needs over 128 Samples Buffer not to have glitches though)

J

P.S.: If you´re really interested in something small with power, you might wanna check out the Acer 1830T.
