Esca wrote:is the sound card connected to an usb hub? may be you can try to deactivate the integrated sound card of the laptop, but not from windows, directly from the bios at the computer startup. this will completely deactivate your actual sound card. You can try.

Also try to check in the hardware manager if there's some device with an alarm, may be an installation of some component hasn't ran good.

Another problem could be some process or service in background that slow up everything. This card is not so powerfull, so the biggest load is on the cpu, andh the cracky sound is when your cpu can't afford the amount of request (easily explained :D) try to kill all the processes in background, check the servicesif ther's some that can slow down the cpu or anyway some process not usefull for you.

If the problem persist try to install the asio4all, I've passed from 512 to 128 samples....

Let us know ;)

Thanks to all your ideas, i will respond to them one by one.

I cannot on my Laptop Bios désactivate the internal Soundcard :D

The device manager is perfect.

I have installed XP and 7 installed, both are completely clean. Task manager doesn't show any heavy procesee with kills/slow down the CPU.

Did you test Asio4all with a Maya44 SE ? Because i cannot get the volume control panel with is necessary for me because i mix and record and the same time.

In the meanwhile i will test on my laptop ;)

so in your bios there isn't any option to deactivate the sound card???

really strange!

yes, I've tried the ASIO4all with my maya and I've found a little increase in performance.

Try out with the ASIO4all and if continue to do not go under 27ms we will investigate more ;)

How do you manage the volume of the inputs/outputs without the Control Panel ? The control Panel is only provided at my knowledge with the Maya 44 SE drivers.

Since i am mixing with a keyboard, 27ms is just fine.

I have installed windows 7 and since the latest installation 7077 i haven't heard any crackly sound.

If you found something to decrease i am always open ;)

Arrrggg, how it this possible.

I was using my Maya 44 SE on WIndows 7 and also Win XP SP3 with 30 ms of latency and i had a good sound, everything was working fine.

I was using Asio4all on Win 7 and the normal on XP.

Without making any changes to my laptop Position & configuration, i got again crackly sounds. Dam how is this possible.

As before, i got it in Directsound and in Asio.

Back to the nightmare, really don't have any idea how to fix it.

Hi,

I have the same laptop. Try something.

Download Process Hacker. Go in in thread "system", look for thread ACPI.SYS in it and suspend it (or them if there are 2) then you normally won't have any latency issue again.

PS : Remember to reactivate the threads when u finished mixing otherwhise you won't be able to open control panel or reboot your PC.

I will test this.

What does exactly do ACPI.SYS ?

unfortunately, it doesn't help.

What could i do else ?

I also discovered that i have stutter and hitches on my desktop with Windows 7 (not with xp). it is true that it is a old machine (AMD 64 3200+)

Any advice is welcome.

I know that AMD need their own drivers for the cpu, and don't forget to install the drivers of the chipset on the motherbord too.
A gpu with generic drivers can also do that so own drivers too.
When this is done don't forget to put the power scheme to "Desktop" or "Max performance".

This should avoid stuttering.
