My partner and i both DJ together using Mixvibes on 1 computer. We change up often and both require our own mediabase tracklisting.
Anyone got any ideas on how to change between mediabases while a track is playing without the track stopping?

You cannot do that. You'll have to use the selection windows as a filter for your own collection.

So is that the only way that you can think of to switch between users? -Make a column that has a character or letter that will be unique to each user, cause its sorta doesnt really work . You can only reset 2 columns at a time ( -like user column and the bpm for example). The playlist function is the only other way that i know of, but the playlist function does not show enough information about the tracks. Why didnt DVS fully intergrate the iTunes playlist function, not just iTunes library that is has (P.S. I HATE iTunes but would make my life easier) like Cross has? Like ive been a loyal Mixvibes user since 2004, since v1 vinyl, and one day hoped it would catch up in a more flexible way. I hate to say it, but on serato, there seems to be that flexability of being able to use folders/ iTunes in that way, and it will also work with the current laptop i have now. I dont like using serato, but i feel i am going to have no option due to the limits of the mixvibes software. I would prefer to get Cross to fix the problem, but my laptop is not powerful enough to run Cross anyways. Sort of annoying to me that i forked out lots of money on a system that seems to be not-so-user-friendly in the way i need to use it now. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hey Daniel. Nothing has changed- it is just not a very good way to manage the situation. Is messy and a pain. Just would be nice if when the other person steps up to play, 'their' songs would be visable; Not both of ours (like around 450 songs each). We have been using a column dedicated to a letter or character, and by pressing the column top tag, it will put one character in front of the other(ex. my letter is A, her songs are tagged B, so when the top column tag is pressed,A or B will be in alphabetical order. Just hard to rearrange more than 2 columns at a time. * the songs we use are in different folders. * sorta confused on the description of your idea. Did you mean load tracks into the sampler for 1 person, then playlist for the other person?
thanks again

it's easy, hook up an mp3-player or cd-player to the mixer or switch to real vinyl for one track... and while the real vinyl is playing you can switch around. also, why not just add the two lists together? you still both will find what you're looking for..

Thanks for your thoughts guys. *Yeah Tribble, we have both our tracks loaded at the same time..thats the problem! (too many tracks to go through). *and to put an mp3 player wouldnt work for us, as we would have to do that like 4-6 times a gig at least. We switch up very often. *I wish thats what i could do on MV Daniel, thats all i want to do is to be able to switch between music collections easily, rather than having to put on a track from an ipod between our change overs. Thats pretty much my frustration at the moment. 2 computers, with 2 soundcards = tons of messy wiring too! *I just thought - If i could run 2 instances of Mix vibes at the same time, that might work(if my computer can handle it). Will try that out and report back

you can't handle 2 sessions in asio but if you just need "sound" you can use the 2nd session in normal directX (won't work with Asio4all)

Thanks Uncle Vibes. ... The only problem is if i use direct x, that means latency - i dont use ASIO4ALL drivers- i use the original roland drivers for my fa66. ......Sorta defeats the purpose of digital vinyl, and isn't really a workable solution. So i guess there is no 'effective', simple user friendly solution that is going to work? Can anybody answer/ know the reason why MV didn't include iTunes 'playlist' integration, not just the 'library' ? I just had bought 6 new control vinyls to keep using the system, thinking it was going to happen when it got to V7, but then the upgrade came and nothing. There was all this talk of it happening, but we only got the library import ( which you could already do by highlighting tracks in iTunes, then dragging them into a folder, then dropping them into MV mediabase). I knew Cross had it built in, but I was so hoping MV would do that in the ' V.7' series of MV. It would of made DVS so much more flexible with the software.
