New gear

Postby Tribble123 on 24 May 2009, 09:55

Hello mates,
i'm about to buy me some new gear...

this is what i'm thinking of buying:

HP Laptop 6730b

Vestax PMC 08 Pro (the black version)

as some of you may already know, i'm european, more specifically i'm from belgium, so well, i just wanted to know if any of you have any experiences with the Vestax08 and HP laptops..
and also, where would you guys advise me to buy the 08 ?
cause it's quite hard to find, can't find it on thomann or musicstore.. and well euhm, i don't know many other stores..

PS: @ the admins, thought it would fit here, since i wanted to talk about the gear and stores, not really mixvibes problems or anything..

The 08's a pretty good mixer. Depending on your preference, you'll either love or hate the fader on it. Overall it's a good purchase, Vestax makes pretty good mixers, I've owned a couple and liked 'em. My advice is to look at all the other mixers in the price range, you might find something else you like. ;)

thanks for the tip
well, i allready have a korg nanopad to control the samplerpads,
and i pretty much prefer adjusting all the other stuff on the laptop
itself (+ the fact that the new Vestax mixers don't look that good) ... i'm more in doubt as to i'd be more happy with the vestax08 or with the Rane ttm56...

@ Karma, is the feel of the fader similar to that one of other Vestax mixers? i'm gonna check both mixers with people i know...
( J to the C (from DJ grazzhoppa's bigband) has a Rane TTM56 and had a Vestax08 which he sold to his best friend since grazzhoppa's band is sponsored by Rane)
where would you advise me to buy the mixer? cause i can't seem to find any retailers...

thanks for the advice!

It's hard to say what it feels like since I've only felt the fader from the first batch of them. I thought it sucked pretty bad since it was way too stiff. I know that D-Styles put a ProXFade in his 08 and I believe the Ruckazoid did too.

BUT, I've seen some really comments from new 08 users and the problem appears to have been fixed (various bugs in the digital parts), so it seems like a pretty good choice now.

As far as purchasing in Belgium, I've got no clue

Thanks again to the both of you...
retailers don't have to be located in belgium, anywhere in europe
will do, only concern is the poweradapter if it's a UK-company
