Producer 7.1 ID Tags not saved

Postby yeswehavetheright on 07 Apr 2009, 09:26

Hi,
I'm running Producer 7.1 on XPSP3. Unfortunately it wont write any ID2/3 tag info even though these options are ticked in preferences. It works fine in DVS7, just not Producer. Any clues?
Many thanks for looking.

I've used the method described in the FAQ i.e. in preferences select ID3v1 & ID3v2 then use the save ID3-tag option under Mediabase.
> doesn't work

I've unselected ID3v1 and tried again - that works. However it also creates a bunch of files with the extension mp3.xxxxxx and no ID info, which are copies of the original mp3 files. Looks like a bug to me.
Shall I try one of the Producer RC's?
Thanks

Not a bug. You have used the correct procedure, Mixvibes generates the .XXXXXX files in place of songs with incompatible tag types, if you rename the .XXXXXX files the songs will work with the saved information... the reason for this is Mixvibes can’t save the same file name twice.

Example,

Your – song.mp3.XXXXXX

Change this to,

Your – song.mp3

Removing the .XXXXXX will return it to a normal mp3, you will have to remove the original files first.

Also you can only output one tag type at a time, always best to go for ID3v2 because this tag holds more information that the original tag types such as ID3v1 or ID3v1.1.

It’s a batch editor for creating, editing and writing id3 tags to music files... it will also detect key notes for harmonic mixing and BPM’s, though for BPM i prefer to use Mixvibes myself. The best bit about rapid evo is that the tags written with the JID3 tag writer that comes with rapid evo is 100% compatible with Mixvibes.

It is quite simple to use but setting it up can sometimes be a pain, it also uses java so you have to have that installed too. You can have a look at it here,

http://www.mixshare.com/software.html

it is worth a look, i have a tutorial planned for using it with Mixvibes.

Regards,
Bryan
