[SOLVED -not multi-asio but multi-audio] Asio vs Multi asio

Postby Anonyme-x22 on 17 Mar 2009, 14:56

Hi,

I have few questions about Asio and Multi Asio.

In Asio: I use to set my card maya 44 lock to 192khz/256smp

Now i use multi asio to add 2 more out with my julia.
So i have multi asio set to 1ms latency.

I tried to lock the julia and the maya to 192khz. but the soft say that there is a issue with the cards. The two cards have to be set to Auto in order to work with multi asio.

Does it mean that the Auto put the two cards at 44.1/48khz in mixvibes ?

Also there is a latency panel on multi asio which is not on asio.

Is this latency linked to the set smp like in asio ?

Hi,

After doing some tests:

It seems that mixvibes cannot work at more than 44.1khz in multi asio.

The samples settings has no impact in multi asio, only latences settings in multi - asio part in mixvibes apply.

Question: Do you plan to improove the multi-asio in order to works at 48Khz or 96khz ?

It can if the sound card can.
Question: Do you plan to improove the multi-asio in order to works at 48Khz or 96khz ?

No as it works now.

Hi,

Can you explain me how to setup the soft in multi-asio to work at more than 44.1khz?

Give me more details about the software you use as a driver. What's exactly it's name, does it have a website?
I know it's not ASIO4ALL limited to 48 Khz. Where can I find it?

My question is which software do you use for multi asio. You don't give me an answer, you just explain you got 2 Asio sound cards from ESI, both are pci if understand well.
You need a special software to do multi asio, it can be asio4all, working very well with the last 2.9 version or another software. Which one is it?
If you don't have such interface you can't combined 2 Asio sound cards at the same time on the same soft.

Hi,

All I have done in mixvibes to get multi asio:

Installed asio for the two card.
Set the two asio in auto mode.
Opened mixvibes.
Gone to audio setup.
Selected multi asio card.
Selected three Output.
Set as output1: Maya44 1/2
Set as output2: Maya44 3/4
Set as output3: Julia 1/2
Set latence to 1ms.

It rocks, no need to install any software.
The only issues is that the cards can go up to 192Khz.
I know now that 192Khz is not stable but i would like to go to 96Khz.

In simple asio, i select 96Khz in the asio panel and it works.
In Multi asio, only 44.1khz works.

There is no multi asio inside mixvibes but multi audio. Multi audio use the "kernel" mode of wdm drivers to get the lowest latencies but it isn't full asio. To do that I think ASIO4ALL 2.9 works better & is easier to use than the internal multi audio. You got a better control of all sound cards.
Most of the people use mixvibes to read mp3, sample rate 44.1khz.
Higher sound card frequencies are useful for a better resolution of incoming signals. Your time coded signal have a better resolution but you won't change the output resulted sound. It will stay a mp3 with 44.1khz.
Mixvibes works very well with 96 Khz incoming signal.

Hi,

You re right , i m cross-eyed.
I was sure to have seen multi asio, in fact it is multi audio.

So in multi audio i seems that the sampling is locked to 44.1Khz.

Do you plan to permit the sampling over 44.1khz in multi audio.

You re also right about playing sound, but i have done some tests in asio, and between 44/48 - 96 - 192 i have heard a tiny difference in sound , the sound is more clear at 192 or 96, and of course the timecoded vinyl are more accurate. That s why i would like to go to 96, to have a sound more clear, and a time coded vinyl more accurate.

Do you think that as the latency is set to 1ms and don t have any trouble that asio for all can give me more possibility about this issue as i think know that it s locked at 48khz?
