About cartridges

Postby DanceCode on 09 Mar 2009, 02:14

Yesterday talking with a few djs one of them was telling that almost doesn't matter what cartidge you use if you are using an interface... mixvibes for example. Obviously if the needle is damaged then the interface or souncard won't recieve a good quality signal. But he was saying that it was the same thing using an ortofon concorde or an ortofon concorde gold set.

Someone have the true :P?

Honestly, I've gotten the same performance out of entry level Shures (SC35C), the classic M447's, and even Ortofons as far as I can tell.

it's true, as long as the needle is in good shape it doesn't make any diff what kind of EQing/compression/sound transformation it makes on the TC.

I actually like to use a basic orthofon OM so the sound is not suprisingly better when i switch from DVS to vinyl (which it still is to some extent ;) )
