home 7 Monitor Problem

How can you monitor your track on deck B while track on deck A is playing? I just purchased mixvibes home 7 and the headphones work but only when crossfader is in the middle and both deck volumes are up. Once I go to mix a track in from the deck I am cueing I have to turn the headphone button off and turn the volume down then turn around and turn it up to mix it in. Is there not a way to keep the song going in my headphones and mix it in all at the same time?

what you need to do is chill out a bit and let us help you... from your pm's i understand your problem, we now have to gather more information on how you have your Mixvibes setup.

i dont have Home 7 so i cant follow what your doing, so bear with us and we will get there!

Rich, Maybe I can help. I just purchased Home 7. I am using a external USB soundcard for the main channel. My older version of MixVibes (3DEX 6.411) used 2 channels on the USB soundcard. It is a Gigaport AG. One output went to ch 1 on my mixer, the other to ch 2, and I could mix from my mixingboard (Numark).The New Home 7 does not support 2 channels on any soundcard, but here is how I am getting around it. First, you need an external soundcard. (As I said, mine is USB) Go to Preferences in the Home 7 program, Click Options, select the 3rd tab from the left, the "Soundcard" tab. Change the output number to 2. Select your Master (1) output to your external soundcard by dropping down the menu and clicking on your soundcard. (Example Gigaport AG). Set your Monitor (2) to the computer soundcard. (In My case, it is my laptop soundcard) Hit "OK". You can now put your earphones on the computer, or get a cable and send the signal to ch 2 on your mixer board if you have one. Set one of your players as a monitor. I set deck 2 by clicking on the earphone icon in mixvibes to monitor. I will put the audio wire from the computer to ch 2 on my mixer and I'll be set. This works for me, I hope it helped you out.

Well I have a external usb sound card I am using as well and I have the master set to my sound card and monitor is going through my internal sound card in my computer. I dont have anything hooked into my computer (mixer, or tables) just strictly using the program as a mixing program all together. All internal, also when I purchased the program it came with a mobile usb sound card as well. It all is working fine just for whatever reason I have to have the channel I am monitoring up and the headphone button pushed to hear the track I am cuing up but once I want to mix it in I have to lower the volume that the track i am cuing up is on through the programs mixer then start mixing it in all the while I am not able to hear the song through the headphones to still listen and make sure it is on beat. If I go to check the song through the headphones I have to click the headphone button once again but as I do that it kills the song I am mixing in all together over my system if that makes any since.

Ok. That makes sense to me. I'm not sure you can do what you are trying to accopmlish. I am new to Home 7 but I have been using Mixvibes programs for many years. What you are trying to do probably can't be done. You need the external mixer to seperate the two channels so you can constantly monitor your song that your mixing in with the current song playing. Thats how I do it. The Program is supposed to have beat matching capabilites, but I usually do it manually. It's the only way I know how. I started Mixing in the early 80's with 12" singles, so the auto beatmixing feels like cheating to me. I'll mess around with the program some more and see if I can accomplish what your trying to do.

Well I appreciate the help and if I would have known that I wasnt able to do what I thought it would do I wouldnt have bought the program to begin with. I have tried other programs that allow exactly what I am trying to do here but love how this program is set up. And if I am unable to do this with this program its pretty much useless to me. I have people talking to me like I am a pro and I am not when it comes to this digital stuff. Like you I have been mixing with vinyl since 95 and with everything goin to digital I figured I would try my hand at this. All I want is to use this program like I would my djing set up but have the computer pretty much stand alone without hooking what I have into it.

I am bearing just had the program a few days now and havent been able to get it figured out is all. And I am sure you can understand my frustration its like having a toy you cant play with. And I spoke with you when I was using the demo version and you told me it is only one input and that if I bought the program I would be able to montior it like I wanted to. So not sure how the demo version will be able to help you help me to figure it out is all.
