"Ding" sound while browsing Media Base

Postby DJCube on 24 Jan 2009, 00:43

Hi, I'm using Mixvibes DVS pack MKII since december. I have a problem with "ding" sound appearing any time I click a file in Media Base. Since the U46MK2 soundcard (using the original driver 1.0.41) is able to split sounds, I haven't got any problem with it until now, because it was possible to avoid it muting the sound of laptop's soundcard. But now, wanting to record my mixes or mix without usage of turntables I face serious issues, because it ruins the whole mix.
Hope I can get some help here ... :(
I'm using W Vista and DVS 7.

Sorry for my English and thank you very much for any idea.

P.S. Another minor issue I'm facing is the latency between physical movement of pitch on my turntable and the DVS to "recognise" it.

Hi djcube, welcome to the forums!

What version of Windows are you running?

there are a couple of ways to fix this problem, determining your whitch operating system you have will help us decide the best course of action for you to take.

ok,

to fix this problem, navigate to "Start Menu>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Change System Sounds", "Sounds" tab.

you have two options, you can either disable all of the windows sounds (this is recommended), or you can disable the "Default Beep".

to disable all Windows sounds, select "No Sounds" from the Sound Scheme dropdown list, and then click "Apply" then "OK".

To disable the "Default Beep" from the sounds menu (Program), and then set the Sounds drop down menu to "(None)", then click "Apply" and then "OK".

and thats you done,

Well, thanks, I've tried both possibilities but the only effect was that the original "ding" sound was substituted by another (not Windows sound, I guess ... more like "system failure" or "hardware error" sound). :(
Thanks for your patience ...

Sorry DJ cube, i should have said before...

you have to disable the sounds for the device you are using, i assume you are using the U46MKII, so when you arrive at the "Sound" options window ensure that it is the U46MKII you have selected.

if you use two sound devices on your computer (U46 and internal sound), Windows runs two different sound sets... i.e. one for the U46 and one for your internal device.

Yes, I understand this but the problem remains when I want to use DVS directly without U46 and turntables. Then settings apply to windows sounds of internal soundcard. However I think I've resolved it in the way it was described in bug report that daniel clark was refering to (creation of a silent .wav file). Thanks anyway.

Don't want to be annoying but do you think that my second issue (pitch latency) could be improved using Asio4All driver instead of that original one?

Thank y'all for your help.

can you post a config report with your vinyl running at 0 pith for me please.

though, i dont think changing the driver will help you any, the update time for the pitch and bpm is subjet to several different conditions, sometimes it is just slower for some people.
