DVS 7 Question

Postby marrowed on 19 Jan 2009, 12:40

Hello,
i am using the DVS 7 software with a Vestex VCI-100 MIDI controller and I am wanting to invest i one CDJ but would like to still use my VCI-100 if that possible to do half the mixing on and also use it as a mixer.

I have no timecoded cd's so or special sound card so what other hardware would i need to do this and how much will it cost? could i connect my CDJ into a line in socket on my sound card?

Also the Pioneer CDJ-400 supports MIDI control, will this work with DVS 7?

Thank you

Yes

Timecode Cd's and an audio card capable of a low latency is a must, that cost would depend on what you buy and where you buy it from.

Yes it will work, but not at the same time as your VCI-100, DVS 7 supports one MIDI controller at a time... so it would be either or im afraid.

Thank you

You're welcome

Thanks for the rapid response!

Just one more Q, i was using 3DEX before recently upgrading to DVS 7.

On the 3DEX software i changed a setting within options, general, speed and pitch range, speed to 4 so that when i moved the pitch up or down it moves in single points rather than 2 points at a time for example i moved the pitch up slightly from 133.1 bmp to 133.2 bmp

Unfortuanlty on my DVS 7 it the pitch moves up 2 points at a time and i cannt find where to change it in options for example 133.1 bmp moves to 133.3 bmp so some of my tunes do not match perfectly.

Can any body help me please as I'm struggling to keep all my tunes in the mix!

Thank you once again.

You can change the ptch range in the player skin, the options are +/- 6%, 10%, 16% and 100%.

Thanks again for the quick reply, unfortunately 6% only gives me the .2 change and not the .1 that i am after. if i could set it to 4% i would be okay. Do you know anybody else having problems like this or can you suggest anything else i can do?

Thank you.

I am curious is this 1 CDJ-400 for MIDI meant in my scenario as well? so I wont be able too use both of my CDJ-400's together?

in both Cross & DVS programs?
please verify this I would need to be able too use both two CDJ's as my new setup.

Cross & Producer support two MIDI devices at the same time, using two cdj's is possible.

DVS 7 supports only one MIDI device at a time making control with only one cdj possible, however you can control two vertual players with one cdj.
