Is it possible?
Last night I sat down and went through some of the tutorials in Ableton, and I think it's very useful. Over the past few hours I've been trying to figure out how to run MV through Ableton in order to do some more extensive live remixing, Glitch VST use, etc. Now, this isn't much of a necessity as it is just something I felt like trying out and am now addicted to finding the solution to.
I tried running both Ableton and MV off of the same ESI driver. Opening either program was no problem, but when I'd open the other, it would say the device has been disabled, but the first opened program would work fine.
Also tried running two different drivers, ASIO4ALL and the current ESI driver. Both programs would open, all of the settings could be adjusted, but you'd hear the timecode AND the song at the same time, so this idea didn't work either.
Lastly, I tried running both programs off of the ASIO4ALL driver, both worked, all settings could be adjusted, but I'd still get the timecode, song, and still couldn't get any VSTs, recording, or anything done.
Has anyone else tried other methods and got it to work?
Summary (if you didn't wanna read all that): Is there a way to run MV through Ableton to (ab)use them both at the same time? I've tried a couple different things but to no avail, but if you'd like to suggest something or try your own thing and post it, that would be awesome.

Hi, A year ago i was trying to setup mixvibes with ableton to make remix loops etc... I was inspired by DJ enferno ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AIofhC6 ... re=related ) So i was looking for how setup to make same thing like him. And one day i found A: you have to have 2laptop and 2soundcard. 1st laptop is running mixvibes 2nd laptop is running ableton 1st sound cart is seimply setup like to use DVS 2nd sound card; in input 1/2 you have to put your master from your mixer. and from your output 3/4 you go to your out sound system( hi fi ) Now you are ready to use Miwvibes & Ableton on the same time on different machines I don't know if you use mixvibes & ableton on the same laptop with a soundcart wich have 6input 6output will work because i can't use 2software with only one ASIO. If now it's possible you need only a powerfull laptop soud cart 6input 6output and here we go Sorry for my bad english

DJ XA is right on the money....its easier with two P.C to set-up ableton and mixvibes together all you need to add is a REDSOUND BITE MICRO the REDSOUNDBITE MICRO is a nice little cheep USB to MIDI device that will turn the Audio from mixvibes into MIDI CLOCK INFO and send it to Ableton by USB so you can sync and lock the beats together
@ Phadedvision....the big diference with the way I set-up Ableton & Mixvibes and the way you are trying to set-up Ableton & Mixvibes and the problam you are having
the way I set it up is I run both software on one laptop on two screens (one for mixvibes & one for ableton ) thay share the same ASIO driver ( edirol driver 1.2 ) I know some sound card driver ( M-Audio & ESI )will not let you run two Audio ASIO softwear at the same time ....BUT edirol DO
The way you are trying to set it up is you are trying to run mixvibes through Ableton and thats why you can hear the time code sound and the track you are playing in mixvibes the time code sound is from Ableton listening to the in-put from your turntables and sending it to the out-puts the track you can hear is the track thats playing in mixvibes

I too have been exploring this and have had this working no problems at all my m-audio sound card alows me to open both mixvibes and abelton i use the redsounds sound bite micro to feed MIDI clock time to ableton syncing everything perfectly
basicly i open mixvibes and then ableton, the trick is to set you routing options on abelton correctly, change the input to NO input this way the time code will not be heard.
start a track in MV wait for the soundbite micro to work out the MIDI clock about 3 seconds press play on the soundbite and Abelton will start playing
This allows me to use my own production into my mixes eg extra hats or drums or even synth lines.

phadedvision asked how i had everything configured when using both ableton and MV, so ill post for all to see!
basiclly ableton SET is setup as follows channel inputs set to no input channel outputs set to master master set to out 1/2
Audio settings at the moment i only have 4 channel sound card so im kinda limited but settings are
1/2 enabled 3/4 not enabled in Abletons output config.
1/2 are dedicated to ableton (channel 1 on the mixer) 3/4 are dedicated to Mixvibes (channel 2 on the mixer
if i had 6 or more channels i could use my 3rd and 4th channels on my mixer depending on which one im using dedicated to ableton leaving mixvibes to use both decks
if you try and have both audio from MV and ableton on the same channel you will have a very bad sound! well i do anyway,
hope this helps man let me know if you need anything else

phadedvision wrote:Wow thank you for answering my PM so quick! I'm gonna try this out right now, I'll let you know how it goes.
EDIT: Aha, so I understand how it'll work now. Thanks to you all for your help! Gonna order the Redsound Micro when I get some money.
@Abitmessie....well said my friend...thats what I was trying to say @ phadedvision....because your using the mixvibes U46 mk2 you have 4 in-puts & 6 out-puts...so just use out-puts 5 + 6 for Ableton and then plag 5 + 6 out-puts to the session in on your mixer that will leave in-puts 1+2 & 3+4 and outputs 1+2 & 3+ 4 for mixvibes for your two turntables when you get the redsound bite micro do not send the sound from the sound bite micro to your mixer...that will cause a feedback loop I made that mistake with my sound bite micro
