controllers

Postby burmaunderground01 on 04 Nov 2015, 05:07

Hello
Just wanted to know what people think are the best controllers to use with Cross DJ?
Any suggestions, experiences?
Thanks

Yep,

Depends on your workflow and your budget. Then personal taste.

Prices vary from like €/$ 30 to > 2000... So hard to advice without having any background/usage info.

I have a VCI 300, and it works better in Cross than Serato which it was designed for. I made a couple of changes to the default map though (Added transpose, and remapped the library buttons to full screen, beat matcher and FX show/hides), and I'm still working on getting the VU meter to work reliably, and Microphones don't work without a lot of fiddling around, but aside from that it works really well.

I also have a couple of midifighters (a Pro and a Twister) with custom mapping for handling decks 3/4, samplers, and controlling effects. They are really good and I highly recommend them.

I'm just interested in using something at home and not necessarily playing out. I play house music mainly.
But I want to know what systems work best with Cross rather than other software. Budget not necessarily an issue.

 still gonna need a little bit more info on your requirements for your playing style ,, ie need /don't need control of samplers ,,hot cues ,,loops ,,2 deck vs 4 deck ,, ,,the control pro and pro 2 is what i have been using ,, at home DJ just wanting MIDI control of the software ,, might be hard to come by nowadays ,, other mid level controllers ,,out there also ,,

the best thing for you to do is get the list of already mapped controllers and search info on them and see which one fill the need , ,

and while you are searching please register the software licence key in the forum ,,please,,to your benefit

If you just want something budget for playing at home, a Mixtrack Pro 2 is a good place to start. Its not the current model so you should be able to pick one up for a good price.

I often use my mix track (1) pro. Great for many gigs. If you want to be able to beat the controls and have controls that have tighter feeling you have to go to a higher price range.

Without looking at software, my usual suspects for starter controllers (2-deck/2-channel) are, in random order:

Denon MC2000
Reloop Beatmix 2
Pioneer DDJ-SB
Numark Mixtrack Pro (2 or 3)

Again, much depends on your (expected/intended) workflow and next personal preference.
