MIDI controller - just wanted to check it's compatible!

Postby russbmw on 03 Sep 2014, 11:21

I've got Cross DJ running on my MacBook Air, with a Hercules DJ Control Instinct at the moment.

I was looking at changing the controller to a Gemini Firstmix Pro.

The Gemini features in the list of compatible controllers, but there are no details of the mappings listed.

So I just wanted to check this controller is compatible before I purchase?

Any MIDI controller is compatible with Cross.

All devices listed in the compatible controller list have a mapping in Cross.
Only some of the listed have a link to a pdf file with the exact mappings printed on the layout of the controller.

With Cross also the standard mappings can be easily modified by the user by making a copy and set an other function to a control.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Ok, need some help then please guys.

Bought the controller.

It came with Cross LE software.

My Cross DJ (full paid version) doesn't seem to work with it very well.

First issue, it doesn't pick up the soundcard outputs properly. I can only select the headphone output or the master output - it won't have say channels 1/2 for master out and 3/4 for headphones.

I can't, that's the problem.

In the audio tab of the preferences menu, on Cross DJ in have the following options :

Built in output (ie: the mac speakers)
Gemini first mix master output
Gemini first mix headphone output

And under the sound settings for each of theses, on any of the input and output drop down menus I only have output 1/2, no 3/4 at all.

On Cross LE, in the audio tab of preferences, I have only 2 options:

built in output
First mix I/o

Then the sound settings for input/output have channels 1/2 and 3/4 as you would expect.

Seems a little strange that the 'normal' isn't shown. Could however have to do with the OEM delivery of LE by Gemini.

Please check outhttp://forum.mixvibes.com/viewtopic. ... osx#p93243
this tells how to aggregate the 2 available (or basically any combination of sc) into one soundcard.

I'm not to familiar with MAC, but guess it still is applicable.
