Hi Guys,
I have ported over some of my collection onto my giggin laptop - 15,000 tracks are audio and around 2,500 tracks are video so, not a huge collection by any standard. Lets say the collection node is selected and then I click on All Music Or All video there is a huge delay before the list is shown also, while the music is playing everything on screen freezes while the list is compiled and then all resumes as normal.
Is this correct behaviour? What happens when I put my full collection on of 50/60,000 tracks will it just refuse to work?
My laptop is a HP Core 2 Duo 2.3 Windows 7 Laptop with 8 Gigs ram, SSD Internal and External hard drive.
Any help or advise appreciated.
John

You need to let your collection be analysed for bpm key and more. Just let the process.

Hi UncleVibes,
Its all been done. Everything analysed and saved.... there is just such a delay as above, by delay I'm talking 10 seconds maybe 12.

Ok guys - I have done a small screen recording showing the delay - as soon as the mouse is over where I want to click I click straight away so it gives you an idea how long its taking. Your thoughts would be really appreciated as its nearly unusable:

Hi Daniel, No services running that are not needed - I have got a batch file that terminates all un-needed services, processes etc. I have terminated the antivirus which is Eset but that made no difference, the files are stored on an external USB3 hard drive. The database size is roughly 86MB and the Analysis size is roughly 4GB. Regards John

Ok thanks Daniel, For the Dev team here are details:
Laptop: HP HDX16 1275EA Laptop Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, fresh install (no bloatware) copy 8GB Ram Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 CPU @ 2.13GHz 256GB Samsung SSD (Database & Analysis Files on here) 3TB USB3 External 7200 Hard Drive (Media tracks on here) Nvidia GeForce GT 130M Graphics Card
Software Installed on Laptop
IE9 Firefox Cross 3.2.0 Virtual DJ 8 Virtual DJ 7.4.1 Sweetlight DMX Software Phoenix 4 ILDA Laser Control Software Pangolin Quickshow ILDA Laser Control Software Pangolin Beyond Ultimate Laser Control Software Eset NOD32 Antivirus Version 7 K-Lite Codec Pack
For software that's it. All windows updates are fully installed, I have tried fully disabling antivirus but makes totally no difference, I also have run a batch file than disables non needed windows services and processes, again no difference.
Task Manager showing:
System Idle Process at roughly 99% all the time when nothing running Processes running = 59 Physical Memory running around 18%
If you need any more info please let me know.

Not 100% sure, but the issue could be that your laptop doesn't have USB3 ports, and because of that your external media drive is running at USB2 speeds, thus causing the delay. From the specs I found about your computer online it mention that it has an eSata and mini firewire port. I would try testing both of those ports with an external drive if at all possible. If you don't want to get a whole new external hard drive, external enclosures are a cheap alternative, and then you could use the drive you currently have your collection on. Here's an example of one that has both eSata and Firewire, and USB2... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817347033
