And this a link to a shot of how I get to choose either, but not both of my outputs in Cross DJ Free.

I'm guessing you are not a native English speaker as you seem to have missed what the colloquialism 'falling at first hurdle' means. It means stumbling or failing to do a task at very outset. Nothing to do with price of software.
Besides I've used trial or free versions of many types of software. Some are time limited 30 days or say to a 30 minute session, some are feature limited, or maybe you cannot save without a watermark or similar. But none are that I recall ever limited in a way you cannot use the basic functionality. Which is the issue here. Not being able to cue/use headphones is extremely limiting and makes the software unusable in a normal DJ situation.

Oh and I did try Win 8 for free actually. :D It was a time limited pre release version. But there's no Win only software that is currently essential to me, so I've not bought it. I only use my Macs now my as my ageing Windows kit is not powerful enough to run my current software. Heck even my Macs struggle at times!!

 no not a native english speaking person ,, from america,,so that my handicap ,,but knowledge is not ,, understand the termonology of first hurdle it there for a reason ,, to see if you want to run the course or gonna fall flat on your face  agreed certain limitations are chosen by software manufactures  this typ of hurdle gives you the chance to experience the software ,,so it your choice to run the race or get off the course ,, just like it was the choice of the powers that be to put this limitattion on their software

But I cannot test or 'experience' the software if the limitation makes it unusable. And you do not seem to know whether that is actually the case anyway or whether there's a bug.

So I'd be grateful if someone from Mixvibes can confirm whether or not there is no headphone/cue output on the free/trial version. If not you've lost a potential customer for the full version and the U-Mix Control Pro 2. I simply do not buy software that I cannot try out properly.

Cross DJ Free has no separate output for pre-cueing, cause it's free.
Cross DJ has this feature.
