1st post - would Cross DJ 2.6 work with my Pioneer XDJ AERO

Postby JaneDalton on 12 Oct 2013, 12:51

Hi - sorry if I am posting in the wrong place - I just signed up to the forum but strangley there seems to be no 'new topic' button for me in the Tecnhical or the Introduce yourself forums ?

I just hoped someone might be able to give me a quick answer.

I'm a Pioneer XDJ-AERO user, mostly with Rekordbox and occasionally I use my Traktor Pro 2 along with the TSI for certain gigs which are very request heavy (so easy to jump on a laptop keyboard and do a quick search for random tracks etc than try to scrolll through vast songlists).

However, it's a real chore to keep both my rekordbox and traktor libraries up to date. I know there's rekordbuddy, but tbh I only take my PC laptop out now (my imac stays at home) so that's not really an option.

But I loved hearing that 2.6 Cross DJ can sync to Rekordbox, and all various cue points and hot cues can be transferred over.

So I'm just trying to find out, is there a good map for Cross DJ for my AERO as if so I'm def going to ditch Traktor for this ?

Hi Jane, and welcome

Sadly the Pioneer XDJ Aero was no native support in CrossDJ (and I don't know whether it's planned or not). However it can be easier mapped for Cross(DJ) using MIDI learning.

I believe is this because no serial number was entered in your Profile when you registered your new account.

Sorry, I can confirm that there is no official mapping for this controller, and there are no plans to do so.

Hi and thanks so very much for the quick replies!

Sorry there's no native XDJ mapping, but just a quick other question about Cross and it's MIDI learning.

Would this still have the new 2.6 feature of Cross DJ in that it can sync the hotcues into Rekordbox? I ask as I also do play occasional shows with CDJ 2000s (another reason I've an AERO at home and love using it to practice those USB only sets)

Also, do the jogs' work ok when MIDI Learnt ? I know they'd not be HID but I still find with Traktor/XDJ in MIDI it's fine enough for me.

I'd love to jump ship from Traktor. I really like the video option of Cross DJ (again, I play a varied amount of shows and that could be useful for some of them), and that Mixvibes also makes Rekordbox is something I'd like - make things seem to be much more similar in their workflow.

sync with rekordbox contains all information cue, Hotcues and Hotcues Loop ... The first three are assigned to A / B / C, and remains in the memory.

The "MIDI" learning is comprehensive and easy, in Cross.
The Jog function perfectly.

If you purchase the product, do not forget to come back on the forum, and to include in your profile the license number / series.

This will allow you to have free updates.
And I advise you to buy Cross, not Cross DJ.

Cross = HID (Pioneer, Denon), Timecode and MIDI.
Cross DJ = Only MIDI.
