Question about IOn Discover DJ software (Cross LE)

Postby jakk on 06 Sep 2013, 06:31

Hello. For some reason I cannot post in the technical support forum that I think this topic should go into as I am being told that my serial number is invalid.

Anyways, I purchased an Ion Discover DJ a few days ago which came with what I think is Cross LE 1.3.2. I have gotten everything working for the most part, but I just have one issue.

I cannot listen to the cue for a deck by itself with the crossfader set in the middle. What I would like to do is leave the crossfader in the middle and mix purely with the volume knobs for each deck. However, when I attempt to do this and listen to the cue, the volume knob for a given deck seems to control both the cue volume and the master volume for that deck at the same time despite the separate virtual cue level knob on the software interface.

I am using a soundblaster 4 for the master output and a UCA222 USB sound card for the cue, I have both of them set up using ASIO4All. I have the mode set to dual stereo, with output one being the soundblaster and output 2 being the UCA222 (phones). Like I said, pressing the cue/monitor button does give me sound in just the headphones, but I cannot monitor a deck independent of the volume knob for that deck which does not make sense to me (why have a separate virtual cue level knob?). Please let me know if you would like to to provide any additional info, and thanks for the help.

Hey. Thanks for the info. I do think I am registered for the forum as I had to go through the registration process to get an account. The only cue knob I see is what appears to control the volume of the cue, not how much cue/mix there is. Below are some screenshots. Thanks again.

I have contacted unclevibes via PM about the serial so hopefully that will be resolved. Also, I am using the headphones button-that's the only way I am able to hear anything over the phones at all (as it should be).

When I use the crossfader (it is the only way I can mix due to this issue with not being able to have the cue volume separate), the cue volume stays the same. The cue volume seems to cut the cue level up/down, not the master or cue.

Hello,

I will use this thread to explain my problem with IOn Discover DJ.

I will try to keep it short and to the point:

- Cross Discover DJ version 1.3.2

- I am using a splitter audio cable (cable DJ) (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Master- ... B0056XAWOU)

- Windows 8

So for example, I am playing through the speakers the track on the left, and I want to cue the other track through the headphones.

The crossfader is all the way to the left.

I press the button of headphones but I cannot hear it through the headphones (actually, what I hear is the the deck from the left, although the headphone button on that side is not on.

Image

I can hear the track from the right through the headphones if:

- I move the crossfader to the right.

- I turn up the cue volume knob.

BUT any of those “solutions” will send the sound of that deck through the speakers, and therefore defeating the purpose of cueing.

I have made sure that the cables are in the right order. I did try to swap them to see if it could fix the problem, to no avail.

It could be that I am missing something fundamental. After all, I am a rookie in the DJ arena.

This is screenshot of my settings:

Could I have some assistance from the technical team or other members of the forum?

Please check in downloads section for a Cross version that is a couple of years more recent.

While you may do this I'll try to explain the cue as an edit of this post.
EDIT>>>
You may use a DJ-splitter, but when using a PC this mostly is not the ideal solution as you get 2 mono signals being duplicated for L/R per output.

If you have two soundcards you can in most case combine them using ASIO4ALL as a virtual soundcard.

With your setup:
In Audio preferences you should have selected 'split mono'.

Master sound of a deck goes by Cross fader and deck fader to main knob fader to main output.
When headphone button enabled for a deck the sound of the deck goes to headphone volume knob. After this is goes to the 'mix' knobfader which mixes the master volume with the headphone volume to headphone out.

The crossfader helps to have just one deck going to master out. The 'mix' helps to listen to both master deck as to an other deck to set cue or to beatmatch.

I hope this addresses your question. As Cross LE is added by the device supplier we don't have much knowledge on each device. So please let's know what outputs the controller has (if any). We'll be glad to help you to setup your master and cue being both stereo. Usually a USB soundcard of a few € (like 5-10) does the job. You may even have one around as it is sometimes delivered with a headset.

Thank you RoJec for your prompt response.
I had already checked the download section and the available version of Cross Discover DJ is 1.3.2 , which is the one I am currently using.

Do you mean I should download CrossDj Free ? I am slightly confused.
