Sample bank improvements

Postby Activated Soundwave on 02 Sep 2013, 14:49

First off I personally would really like to see in the browser the option to create sample bank folders so I can organise my sample banks better.

Now here is my new ask and quite a useful ask,
If their can be a way to link a sample bank to a track, I can think of numerous ways to implement it, but Probably best to be able to do it from the browser before hand. So basically once linked, when ever I load the associated track it loads the sample bank I have linked, This will be perfect for routines and pre set up mix tricks, very valuable goes without saying I think.

but it will only load the corresponding sample bank if you have a link sample banks button selected, which can be displayed for both sample banks, 2 x buttons which are both MIDI controllable, also if you have a linked sample bank the track will display an icon via the track in the browser, so you have the choice (And you can see what is what), so if you already have samples loaded, you don't have to replace them/load the linked sample bank if you don't wish to/ or by mistake.

well ,,not shure how you want to do this ,, there is a tab in the left hand tab for samples and you can also select the sample bank folder to edit the sample in the set up sample bank,,not shure how much more organization you would like ,, :?: :?:

I think a single sub folder Hierarchy within the sample bank folder.
In the browser when I go to the sample banks, I have my sample banks, which package up the samples off course, but it does not seem to let be create any sub folders in the sample bank section in my browser so I can organise my sample banks, so you just end up with a huge list, which is not so good having to scroll threw and locate, so hence the need for sub folders I thought/think, but not sure how that would work in conjunction with loading up sample banks via the sample section.

The only option I have is to create playlist which I can have in sub folders etc and load the samples up each individually , so I was just looking at a better way to organise my sample banks, as suppose to one long list and it can end up mighty long, with different types of sample banks /sets that can other wise be in sub folders. But as I just mentioned not sure how to go about it in conjunction with loading up samples banks, when you would need more commands to open the sub folder, but surely their will be a simple solution if its thought about more.

Maybe I am missing something as you lead me to believe - Unsure Daniel ?

That's Just the individual sample banks up to 8 samples as you know, I am referring to being able to put these banks into sub folders, as the list can grow very long and I have not scratched the surface of how many 100's or even thousands over the years wil evolve, very easy to rack up the sample banks, and also as I have many different genre or styles going on or types of sample banks I create, it seems fitting to have a system that can make this much simpler, ie sub folder option, but like I say not sure how that will fair for loading up sample banks if you have then in folders too, but I do think something that needs looking into, to help those who need better organisation, its these little things that make the whole experience that much more enjoyable and accessible providing their is a workaround that wont hinder the simplicity we have already of loading these banks that the tricky bit.

Hi,
The work around I use is to add more than the 'default' 8 tracks per sample bank. You can activate the ones needed by setting the padindex.
Even then (at least) one more folder level would help to organize it more structured and accessible.
And if you have no specific needs for the sample settings you could just create a folder in the playlist and create the hierarchy from there. Then when selecting a playlist you can 'quickly' drag them to the pads. Not as convenient, but helps you organize and if in future the option becomes available you can likely move them easy to a new sample bank. Will just take some time...

thanks I will probably end up creating a playlist folder with play lists for my samples , as a definitive storage place. But I will take a look at the first workaround you mention, Thanks.
I guess I could live without it!

but the idea to link a sample banks with tracks is one of my new big wants.
