EQ, still fighting with the EQ, i do various styles of music and where as some styles sound a little better ,but i would say more so breaks styles as suppose to the warmer trance and deeper progressive are troublesome, the eq is just way to harsh and seems way to drastic, I cant get a good blend constantly enough, everything is way to fast over sensitive, so you loose alot of play for blending your EQ in which i do throughout the entire mix, my hands are always at the ready to tweak my EQ in conjuntion with my gain as i do many diffrent mixing tecniques it is fundamnetal next to my monitoring the most important funtion of them all.
I have mentioned this in the past, but now iam doing so much more on a daily basis, it is becoming More evident and more annoying, that i know its just amatter of time before the EQ lets me down, tracktor has the best sounding Eq, so i would suggest if done correctly you either add a couple more EQ presets, one medium from what you have at present taming the high end and the dratic cut and 3rd that is really warm and with depth and a slow action for the more rounded subtle mixing, or add in setup the option to cutomise your EQ to preference.
I must say around a few other tweaks and ideas, this is still my biggest sofware letdown in Cross, i am just getting to the point iam trying not to use my EQ incase it messes up my blends, but i am finding that a really hard thing to do without,I just get board knowing i cant achieve the better results i need, whats the point if the tool for the job wont do that job, so yes my pet hate is the EQ at present, i have recently also had over two of my friends that play out a lot, around to mine this weekend gone to share the love about Cross and how it so much greater in the foundations for most other main things ,they have seen my point and really like it, but the first thing picked up is the EQ.
You may or may not already have this listed, But i really think it needs pushing soon as, this is the only thing that will get me to stray, not that anything else is any more worthy, but the basics like eq still have to come first, i have always been aware from day one of using Cross this was a deal breaker for the more concearning, still i dont really have one software i can say will hold me, but i am convinced this need for the EQ will remove by doubts for all the fundimentaly important things reguarding basic mixing blending and cutting etc, from what i remember of the top of my head, Cross will all then be perfection in the first most important areas, It is becoming the darkest horse on the planet, becuase you do take so much thought into its layout etc.
Why iam on to it, i just had a flash in my mind, any chance we could have an option to have the song audio display's on decks 3&4 / C/D in other colours, as where as at first it does not seem overlly inportant, i aslo use the colour tag to sort out sets, somtime i may only use Decks 3-4 for overalying say an old skool track over some new song and weave it in, so its good to have this colour coding when i come to play my set back so i can see in my playlist or smart lists that i only use this for song for layering or what ever other purpose , where as if i plan a set i will make sure the songs sound great together, i dont plan the actual mixing in times etc, every time it could turn out different, i like to have fun with it, so allthough no biggy the extra colours will help me having to put that second thought into what my thoughts where when i put the list together, i have my colour coding to refer too.
So to elaborate on this 4 diffent colours for the display's, then each colour has 2 or 3 shades, preferabley 3 shades of that colour in the tag colour option, providing the difference in shade etc is noticable enough on most resolutions, this gives you a way to configure in your own mind your sets in greater depth, is it a layer or are you only using the break, are you just playing it or looping a section, its all really up to the users own ideas and ideals.
After these 4 x 3 colour groups corresponding to the same colours as your audio display, i would then say feel free to fill the tags with other random colors, and these other colours can all be pre dermined as their are no different shades only single colours, if you use these colours in the tag list, these can then be used for sample and the sample slots, so that MP3 etc will display that colour when dropped into the sample slot, so in harmony you have a awsom way to visualise your sets and what is playing, helps no end on those long late night adventure, or with bear goggles etc on, or just for the really concearning DJ like ME!!!!!!!!! who has alot going on.
