I can't split the audio between speakers and headphones

Postby BabyDaft on 01 Jul 2013, 16:49

Hello,
This is my 1st post, I've really like all the help I've seen floating around here. I did a search but all the answers for my problem came up with equipment specific answers. So here I go.

-I have a FirstMix USB DJ Controller PRO
-Cross DJ LE
-A 15" MacBook Pro, their seems to be a regular stock soundcard? It didn't list any names. unless it was "Audio ID 75" or "Intel High Definition Audio"

I don't have a mixer or anything, I'm going:
output RCA->1/8th inch -> Female-to-Female 18th inch -> External computer speakers.
Then Headphones from the front headphone jack.

I'm at a loss. Please help.

The controller that you listed has its own souncard. You would need to connect your controller to the laptop via usb and make sure that it detects the souncard 1st. Then select your default audio in the computer to the FirstMix USB DJ Controller PRO soundcard as your default. Start Mixvibes Cross LE and if you have a settings section make sure that they are set for Master out channels 1 and 2 and cue out channels 3 and 4. The connections should be in the front for the headphones and the back for the master RCA output.

Brilliant! Thank you, I'm all good to go!

I don't yet know the benefits of using the Cue, but I've just been screwing around trying to figure it out. I believe Cue allows me to tackle location points, without the audience getting bothered by my constant rewinding to get the proper location point, because I'll be the only one hearing it.

Right now, I'm working on mapping "location points", and mapping "delete location points" to my wireless keyboard.

Everyday a new question, but every day a new answer, and everyday I get better. Thank you, FigDJ!

Correct, it also allows you to beatmatch the tracks before you put them in the mix so that the audience doesn't get beat up up by a trainwreck.

Strongly suggest djtechtools.com and digitaldjtips.com for reading, learning, and expanding your knowledge. Of course, practice makes perfect.

Great information - don't try and run before you can walk - learn the basics first! :)
Summer is here! Only 4 things we need - cold beer, hot ladies, loud music, and more cold beer!
