Were not reaching +10dB... That's kind of troll ...

The gain curve is not linear, but there's, for instance, something like +6dB when scratch speed is 5x and +8dB when speed is 20x.
+10dB would theoretically be reached at 80x

First of all hello to everybody. I've been thinking for a long time about posting on this "issue" in Cross on the raise in level when scratching. I didn't do this because i wasn't sure of my ears, and my friends didn't all agreed about that. I've been (and still) mixing and scratchin with real vynils for 15 years. Never enough tried serato nor traktor, but i spent some years with mixvibes Producer, and on this one, the level increase when scratching wasn't that pronounced. The feel i get when scratching with Cross is the same i get when scratching a brand new vynil, but on a real vynil, as soon as it become a little used, the increase in level when scratching seems largely less agressive.
To speak frankly i don't know if the actual behavior in Cross need an adjustment, but maybe the setting could be included as an option, in the preferences panel ?
I'd love to read the feelings of other users about this whole thing (level increase when scratching). Good day to everybody

I did say "estimate"..... All I can say is that if my master levels on the NS6 are 4 led's from the top and I scratch they go all the way up to max. If I drop my fader 3/4 down, the "scratch" level ends up roughly the same as when it was playing normally.

This tells me that there is something certain people notice about scratching with Cross that is different. I'm not trying to argue with anyone here, this is just something that I (and others) have noticed.

I guess this is the point, so the sound is at its optimal level. Everything from there is wear and habits...

I think the problem probably only appears with controllers because with vinyl you won't do that kind of back spinning like you do with a cdj or something comparable.

true that...you touch vinyl like you touch someone you wanna have sex with, no-one cares for a midi-platter though ;)

I mix and scratch real vinyl records daily and Cross volume increase when scratching feels natural to me. I've never used a controllerwith jogwheels though, so i'm not sure about the jogwheel backspi behavior.

Exactly, you can reach speed that are not natural at all, and this why a backspin with a wheel that don't have any weight should always be done with the hands still on it to avoid taking too much rpm.

You can also often hear it with a CDJ, when you set the jog tension on light and do a continuous backspin : the sound speed increase fast, then it reach a point where it will never go faster even if you manage to turn the wheel harder/faster.

Fact : the higher is the frequency, the higher the sound is perceived.

By limiting the speed, you limit the pitch note, you limit the volume.
