The really frustrating thing is that they show up just fine in the database because they're using the M4A wrapper that AAC uses from the Apple store. It just doesn't load and playback properly because the codec isn't implemented. Unfortunately, it's incredibly misleading because if the Apple Lossless files are scanned into your library with your purchased M4A files you don't know if they'll play or not until it's too late. I was making MP3 versions from the Apple Lossless but that was taking up a LOT of space and it also meant that I'd have to redo all the cue points and everything else once I moved to the Apple Lossless once it is implemented. I keep hoping... but until it's implemented I'm forced to stick with Torq or Traktor. Unfortunately, they don't to video...

It will come but we have so many things already in the pipe that it is hard to add some more. Flow is the same, and too much pressure will break the pipe.

Torq is dead, no more support, and very little support when it was suported.
Serato is locked down to specific hardware, which to me makes it garbage. I don't want rules regarding having to buy an obscenely high price sound card just to not be able to use it on any other program.
Traktor is good, but Native instruments is only worried about you buying their crap hardware that lasts less than 6 months. The software is only improved to add functionality that will sell new hardware, not improve you current setup or work with your current setup. Fixes that have been asked for over 5 years still haven't been fixed, same with basic features (like resizing the MIDI mapping window) that should have been taken care of years ago. And, their sound algorithm is lacking, when compared to MixVibes.
Cross, IMO, has the best sound algorithms of any program I have ever heard, and is right up there with dedicated hardware CDJ's. I have used, and/or currently use Traktor, Torq, Ableton, PCDJ, VDJ, and Mixxx, and my favorite is still Cross.
Why, you ask? Since I have been using Cross (6 months or so), they have went from 4 major revisions (2.0,2.1,2.2,2.3) and several minor revisions. Traktor has went from 2.5 to 2.6, adding only the ability to go buy more of their shoddy hardware to control new features that Cross is doing a really good job of competing with. MixVibes crew has taken in and implemented more user suggestions to date than I saw in 4 or so years of Traktor usage. Not to mention, bugs get corrected on a timely manner with Cross, and the stability of the program is uncanny, and is only matched by Serato and the major versions of Ableton.
My 2 cents.

So true... Native instruments was a really nice company but nowadays they care more about marketing and less about music technology. Plus as i had said in another topic their hardcoding methods (see sampler decks etc) are enemies of music. Even if they had the best software out there i definately wouldn't be their customer, cause their marketing tactics are forbidden in my mindstate.
Ableton is awesome, and i still use it a lot for my "4-bar" electronic music sets. Also i believe it has unlimited creative possibilities, but when bitwig come out i may switch. Cross for me misses only 2 major things. Linux version and professional FX. I would only consider to change anytime to a linux equivalent but mixxx isn't even close yet.
PS: I would be glad to know what's in the pipeline? What should we expect?

I was lucky. I was connected to key people at M-Audio early in Torq's lifetime (1.0.1) and entered the beta program so I normally knew what was going on but couldn't say anything. It had a rich feature set but with the buyout things are not looking good so far. I have high hopes for Cross. So far it has most all the functionality I'm looking for... but Apple Lossless is just something I really need and it's hard to work around it at this point... I'll still use it as much as I can, but it sucks to see the tracks but not be able to load or play them. I'm patient though. As for Traktor... well, they're just starting to take after Serato with the tying of hardware to functionality of the software. I won't use Virtual DJ... about the only 'major' DJ software packages I haven't tried are Deckadance and OTS.
