First off all: YES I know this is not the right place on this forum for this topic but this seems to be the only place where I can put a topic... so I hope I can count on your understanding.
I just received the U-Mix Control Pro 2 with Cross DJ. I installed everything and even made the update to the most recent version of Cross DJ. Software is working great but I'm not able to use the U-Mix Control Pro 2. I always get the message that the USB product is not recognised. I also get an indication that the Universal Serial Bus-controller found a Unknown USB device that is not working. When I look at it I get that "the device has been stopped due to a problem (Code 43)". Uninstalling, re-installing,... nothing seems to work. I also tried to install the U-Mix on an other laptop (Windows Vista) and got exactly the same problem. When I startup the device I get the LED colour check and Power LED is on so I think the device is working.
Please can someone help me because I don't know it anymore...
The laptop installed on is a Windows 7 Pro 64bit version, 4 GB memory.

Hi and welcome, googling your problem got me this as a troubleshooter: "Ok - not sure how much simplier I can make it, but - on a laptop, unplug the power cord, then take out the battery, unplug all usb devices, leave it alone for a minute or two and then replug the power cord and then the battery. Turn the computer on and restart as normal. replug in your usb devices and they will reinstall as usual." You could try that EDIT: Or google yourself "usb problem error code 43"

open the MIDI tab ,,,,preferences/MIDI,, is the U-Mix Control Pro listed as a MIDI device ,, if its there is there a red off line or green online the firm ware should have come installed ,but have you updated the driver and have a U-Mix Control panel on your desk top (as a short cut ) will move this topic to the approaite topic as we get this resolved ,,,,

Hi klette,
some more suggestions: Have you tried some other USB cable? If you had connected the U-Mix Control Pro on a USB Hub it could also be some power problem then you should use an external power adapter.

It's 'possible' you're having a power issue that's at the root of the problem - but normally you get a different message than the error 43 when that's that case. USB should allow for up to 500mA of current but early PC's and the cheaper (less expensive) PC's often got 'creative' with this amount. Sometimes on desktops they'd limit you to 30-50mA on the front ports or limit you across all ports. It's why some of the early bus powered hard drives had two plugs - because sometimes a PC wouldn't power it even though the drive was well within spec. Using a powered hub would alleviate this as a potential issue. Modern Apple computers, for the most part, don't have this issue since most have overpowered USB ports to support charging iPads which can potentially draw more than the 500mA.

@ daniel craig: yes everything is installed correctly and the MIDI interface indicates red offline.
@ HeRo: taking apart my laptop? Could try this during the weekend. Hopefully my laptop doesn't crash completely ;-) Thanks for the tip.
@ Marxon: no haven't tried other USB cable as I don't have any that fits the U-Mix :-( Will have a try with external power adaptor. In that case put switch U-Mix on external power and leave the USB cable plugged I suppose?
Thanks all for the tips: I'll try them out during the weekend. hopefully ons of them solves my problem... fingers crossed and I'll keep you posted!

Hi guys,
I've tried al the solution reach to me in this topic. Problem remains: as soon as I plug in the device it get a notification that the USB device is not working. Can it be the U-Mix is defective, or does anyone see another possibility? I'm nearly on the point of throwing the whole thing through the window :-(
