Need some advice

Postby smaks on 11 Jan 2013, 21:25

Hi all,

I'm thinking about selling my turntables.

I have 2x American Audio HTD 4.5 in perfect condition,

The engine in it is actually a near copy of the MK2's engine because they lost there patent a couple of years ago.

How much would you guy's ask for them?

Specs:
Source: http://www.djbooth.net/index/dj-equipme ... dio-htd-45

# Massive 4.5kg of torque (industry standard is 1.7kg.)
# Dual Start/Stop buttons: easy access for scratch DJs who use their turntables “Battle Style”
# Super fast or very slow start and stop with adjustable “Start” and “Stop” controls
# Pitch slider with “Quartz Lock”
# 33 / 45 / 78 rpm speeds
# +/- 10%, +/- 20% or +/- 50% pitch adjustment (locks in precision 33, 45 or 78 speed control)
# Reverse platter direction
# Dust cover not available
# Headshell included (needle or cartridge not included)
# Dimensions (LxWxH): 13.75” x 17.75” x 3.5” / 353 x 450 x 86 mm
# Weight: 29 lbs / 11 kgs
# Actual Shipping Weight 31 lbs

Another question:

Should i sell them ?

I really only mix behind my desk with the U-Mix Control Pro.
On the other hand it's near impossible for me to mix without the sync button because the jog wheels are to light. Maybe it's my settings but for now it's not really an issue.

What arguments would you give in favor of keeping the turntables ?

Yess i still have vinyls in the wall closet :) and i occasionally buy Jazz Records.
I enjoy ALL Music , not only electronic but since i mixed on a budget i never really learned or practiced other styles. Is timecode easyer than joghweels to mix other styles with more complex beatpaterns ?

As you can notice i have a bit of a dilemma :)

Never ever sell your turntables if you don't have two others. I have tried to mix without them, but I always came back to turntables. It is a personal thing, everyone has to take his or her own decision, but I would say: keep them.
Viele Grüße,
Cheers,
A plus,
Steve

I say keep 'em. Even though I have a pair of turntables in a coffin for use with Cross, etc - I have a 3rd turntable for 'listening' setup.

There's just something about putting hands on vinyl and listening that I really love. :)
