Cross DJ 2.1.0 File Access Restricted, Try Relocating Track

Postby djmouse2 on 02 Dec 2012, 12:09

I updated to version 2.1.0 this week and now Cross DJ doesn't work at all!

Every time I try and load a song it comes up with the following error message " Track Loading Error. File Access Restricted, Try Relocating The Track First". It worked fine before the upgrade.

I'm running MAC OS X 10.8.2 and this happened before the iTunes update but even after the update it still doesn't work.

The only unusual thing about my iTunes library is that I have two that I toggle between, but all of my music is in the default library. This has never caused an issue in the past.

It was purchased through the Apple App store so I'm not sure what the serial number is or how I get it.

Hello djmouse2,

You're encountering this issue due to new Apple limitations on file access. This limitations are applied on any applications distributed on the Appstore (see this article : http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57444680-263/apples-sandboxing-restrictive-for-some-applications/).

In your case your iTunes library seems to contain tracks outside your ~/Music folder, that's the reason why CrossDJ cannot access them, even for read access.
You will first have to import these tracks into CrossDJ's collection, then resolve their access.

-> resolve their access by opening the File menu and selecting the "Resolve all missing track..." item. Hit the button "Resolve access" and select the parent directory of your non-sandboxed files (like an external drive i.e.).
This should do the job, let me know otherwise.

I will not come to comment these new Apple's limitations here... but be sure these new AppStore constraints are big issues for us developers, and for you DJs in the end... Apple gets finally closer to 1984...

Best regards,
Nicolas.
