Again, I give no negative feeling about Windows 8. I watch some old friends here being sick just about the idea of touch screen... There is no debate like this old one with Vista poor successor of XP! Windows 8 look forward do the same with confidence it's a great OS. Windows 8 is available for mouse addicts too.

I'm unsure because I love 7 so much - it's as perfect as I could ever imagine! I will give 8 a try, but not on my beloved HP DJ laptop. I'll use the wife's - she hardly ever uses it anyway - prefers my HP DV6...

True Daniel - it was my wife's laptop that started me back on the mobile DJ experience, and whilst it's not as powerful as my new one, it's still a good benchmark. If Windows 8 runs well on it, I'll try it on my new laptop.

Very good idea, upgrade might delete installed programs but keep your user files. (Windows 8 pro the only one where you can add Windows Media Center) -Windows 8 seems to keep programs if you upgrade from version Home 7 A better optimisation of Windows8 help your computer to spend less resources so it starts much quickly than previous versions.

On W8 or on the metro style ? not the same imo... I'm very interested in the faster start-up times and the apparent better performance, especially when I own a budget laptop and I'm having problems with Cross!
I didn't see any improvement over my computers in here, for me it's just a W7 with a skin (I'm sure that I'm wrong, but in what I do with them I didn't see anything different). I read a review that said although it is aimed at touch screen devices, the new Metro style works well with the mouse as well.
Agree. Not sure I want to be one of the first to take the plunge and test with Cross though!
You won't be the first, already done by some of us. Upgrading to W8 only to have faster boot time ? This is not a performance upgrade in my eyes. Lower some benchmarks times, reach better scores on processing challenge, lower memory consumption or running services, allowing to reduce latecy ARE upgrade for me. But boot and shutdown/sleep speed...

Oh, of course, I agree. It's just one of the things that keeps coming up in discussions about W8. The other items you mention, they haven't happened? And as far as Mixvibes are concerned, W8 does not improve Cross performance?
