Windows 8

Postby CJB on 26 Sep 2012, 23:50

Just picked up a bargain 2nd hand Asus N20A mini laptop from eBay which I intend on using as my DJ rig for the forseeable future.

Unfortunately it came with Vista pre-installed, so before I grab an OEM copy of WIndows 7 with the RAM (and possibly SSD) upgrade I intend putting in it I thought I might try the Windows 8 Release Preview, as it's free to download.

Has anyone tried running Cross DJ 2.0 with the Windows 8 RP, and do the devs know whether it' should be compatible straight away?

Look forward to your responses - if no-one knows I might just go ahead and be the forum guinea pig!

I'll give it a go then - it's got to be better than Vista!

Running Cross 2.1 and our soundcards, controlers with a home x64 version and everything seems to be running as into W7 : no issues for now.

Good to hear. I'm keeping Windows 7 on my main laptop, but as my backup one has Vista on it I'm going to try Windows 8.

Thanks for testing it guys!

For me W8 is just W7 with a frondend ui, I didn't see too many differences between W7 and W8 in desktop mode.
I only play with it a few hours but nothing was strange or not unusual for me there : still a Windows OS.

But check the sound latency without asio, it's a huge difference, seems to be wasapi native.
