Why not just use mp3s instead of midis?

I,m using mp3 for the audio ( in Cross ) and mp4 move vj loop files for video in ( grand VJ )...running two software ,one for audio and one for video on the same PC and using one MIDI controller to control both software at the same time....as you load a mp3 audio sample into the Cross sampler and trigger with the MIDI controller it also trigger a video loop in grand VJ it the same time.....
