mindful that expence /price is always the main concern,,you are always trying to get the best product for the amount of monie spent, dismayed at construction just moved and had to disassemble everything when setting up my sound system ,had the misfourtune of breaking one of the sub input connections,,the spring loaded /insert wire type,,havent connected/disconnected this but maybe 5/6 times ,in fact put a terminal board to prevent having to dissconnect the wires to thease connections, this powered sub is maybe 4/5 years old and replaced a 12 dual voice coil passive sub system happy with its performance ,Welll, opened it up to change the terminal board for the connections and found that they are soldered to the circiut board and are not replaceable,, so now have to reconfigure everthing to try to use the line input to get it to play.... all this conversations intent is to vent and put the idea out there that the quality of manufacture is a concern when you are chossing gear to use in a proffesional enviroment..well enuff tea pot whistling ,,back to finding a solution

the quality of manufacture is a concern
That's why you can't buy a swiss Ziegler watch for an 100$

forced buy manufactures to purches new due to in ability to service equiptment,,also the lack of repair shops even to refurbish amp and electronics,, just dismall,,this sub was purched 4/5 years ago to replace a 12"passive crossover due to speaker failing, inability to find suitable replacement.that sub was bought in 1990,,,still can use the enclosure and Cross over,,paid about $150 for powered sub,,now this might just be useless for my system,, if the lab rat can figure his way to the cheese

To repair anything in electronics you better live in a third world country than in your favorite American State. Street workers do incredible repairs

yeah, you understand my dismay,20 years ago there was a shop local that was able to correct a problem with the volume control, rotary, on a earilier Pioneer amp, years later wanted to take a 8 year old jvc amp to get serviced and same problem corected ,more so since the volume control was remote controlled and had bad spots in the pot ,,could do it because didnt have techinicians qualified to make repairs,, and then it was cheaper to buy a new amp/reciever.. the owner of the shop expressed this info,,so on to newer and not better,, wish i still had my sansui set up from the 70"s. ran that rig for 4 years 24/7, never a problem

You would be surprised how many strange things I've soldered with my not-so-pro equipment... And they still work Hint: if you can solder, you can make sturdy stuff out a cable and a proper connectors. I suggest big tamiya connectors, both for your speakers and both as the input of your amp. Just solder a wire pair to the correct pins (leaving the broken connector there, if you don't wanna remove anything), and just put tamya conectors to the wire pairs. Those connectors can'T be pulled apart when connected, and the are polared, so if you make them correctly, you can perfectly make them speaker connectors. They are quite cheap, and easy to make (there are two metal pins, which you attach to the stripped wire end, and when you are done with the two, just click them into the pastic part of the connector. Tamiya connectors are easy to find in modelling shops. THis is how they look. The left one is the male connector, you can see that "tongue" on the top of it, that clips to the female, so you have to push it down if you wanna remove them, so you can't disconnect accidentaly. EDIT: In the picture that is the small tamiya connector, use the bigger one, which looks the same but in a bigger size, so they can stand bigger power.

Yes today we have to do all by ourselves. But what happens when you don't know how to use a solder iron or when the components are so small that you hardly understand what's about the inside of the box? If I can use a solder iron I can't repair something too small... I don't have all the precisions tools needed! Even screwdrivers are very hard to find!
