Place "Key" info in the players

Postby ddjj on 27 Jun 2012, 23:17

Greetings:

I would like to suggest to put the "key" info in the players (both in a and b) of the songs that is currently playing. Ex Am....I believe this would allow those that use the harmonic scale to mix easier.

I dont think we want to be able to change the key, kinda of like Producer, but just an info holder....There appears to be plenty of room in the players for this...and would always be available.

I have created smartlists to separate the 12 different keys provided by Mix Meister...when searching the list for compatable songs...I often forget what song the current key is of the song playing....and trying to remember or go back to several lists to find it, loses valuable time to try to accomplish the goal!

I think maybe Kev Maverick can comment on this, or maybe eloborate on how he does this in his environment...i might add that i spin songs that are only 3-4 minutes long....I gotta be quick LOL!

Should the key display change while adjusting playback speed ? (like bpm in real time) or just displaying the tag like artist/title/cover...

I agree that this little feature would be really useful.

At the moment I have the tag fields arranged so that I can see just the information I need, including the key. Sometimes I do have to go back to the list to check the key of a song I've selected. I can't think of any other work around unfortunately.

Personally, I think that it's better just to display the original tag value, for reference, rather than one that changes with playback.

I'd love it to also display the keycode, but since that is not implemented in Cross, it would be a lot to ask! ;)

Ok then....maybe put the key value in the player with the keycode equivalent....or if space restriction...then a toggle for it!

Thx

Should the key display change while adjusting playback speed ?
That would be quite awesome. Although simply displaying tag info would also be nice for starters. +1 for this request

That is a good idea - i mean i always have to go back to look through my lists when i forget, and have thought about this idea quite a few times...

Yes, it would be nice to have the key displayed on the players/samplers.

Iw would be great, but in a way, that you can see the original and the current key effected by the pitch.

Doesn't it consume a lot of CPU power to determain the current key value? I mean it is hard to count or round up...

The key analysis would be made offline (like BPM, grid, gain, etc.)
Making the displayed key follow the pitch variations wouldn't consume more CPU than the BPM value.
