It's an interesting story I'll tell, but I think everyone will find it familiar in your surroundings, or in your life...
(for lazy readers scroll down, to the "conclusion" part

)
So as many of you know, dubstep and wicked D'n'B tunes became "mainstream", or getting popular among young audience, and wicked electro rythms and dubstep patterns are appearing in hit club tracks...
So this is fashion... But you know playing house, and electro is still the main style on parties, exspecially in Hungary.
My story begins with a friend and basicly a college of mine, because we are the member of the same Univerity Studio.
His style is dubstep, D'n'B, sometimes breakbeat, and strange styles of alternative electro stuff...
We got a pretty good opportunity, to fill a venue with university students on a wednesday night (that is the main party day for us).
And my friend/college decided to make a series of wicked electro parties.
His last one was last week, and the big place was empty...
Only about 20 people turned up whole night, and boss closed the party at 2 o'clock...
What did he go wrong: On his first party he played along 2 electro DJ-s occasionaly droppong in dubstep and D'n'B, and spinning up the crowd... was very nice... place was full.
But this time he was alone playing only his your style, which I hardly found it "dancable".
And he didn't mix well, track choice is poor, and stuff...
If I make a party, I make it house, electro, and mixing in dubestep, and wicked electro but not all the time. I'll move with the fashion, playing club music along on these parties so I satisfy everyone in the club, including the stuff, and the Boss.
The place is full, and I get the oportunity to express myself.
And most of all, I'm starting to find my style of music playing, to have my own, not just being a "club-worm DJ" all the time.
Conclusion:1) So if you are into a music style and that is not the most popular, when you gig, you have to think up the whole thing and take the best out of it, but don't let you loved style, to overtake a party.
2) You have to be a good DJ to achive that, and sometimes dropping in these are quite difficult, but If you can do it, you are satisfied, and everyone is happy.
3) If you really want to make a whole party around you style make sure you consult, and promo to a manager that is not familiar with that, and advertise weeks ahead, so you can gather the few people that likes that music
And if boss says "WTF you just did, don't play this anymore!" you can come up with "I just wanted to try something, that can move the crowd more, but if you say no than no more

".
So experiment, but
be prapared, think your transitions through, so good things can come, and old rusty managers can say "That was good" in the end.
