(solved) main output volume control has no effect on RH deck

Postby DJ Paul Allen on 29 Feb 2012, 22:24

I have recently purchased the Vfx controller and software. It originally automatically assigned both 1 & 2 decks to output via deck 1 on both sides. After finally getting help to assign left and right decks to output to separate channels on an analogue mixer. I find that right hand deck (2) has very little volume on this channel now. The channel visually shows masses of gain, but the master volume control is not effective for the right hand side. It only works for deck number 1. And has no effect at all on the output of the other. Any ideas??

Glad to see that issues with the software are being ignored!!!! Not impressed with the company at the moment. Various issues and no response......

Open the audio mixer window, you'll see a volume control for each output

Hey Paul...

I am NO MEMBER of the MixVibes company, only another user...

Maybe answers got stuck a bit because the guys are preparing the MIXMOVE for this week and MUSIKMESSE/PROLIGHT&SOUND for next week.

Vfx is a bit tricky about volume. Your signal is routed through different stages you have to check.

1st - check your presets: If you wanna use an external mixer (like I do), you have to change settings for the soundcard. YOu have to choose ASIO, choose MIXVIBES ASIO Vfx Control and assign the different output numbers. The first two pairs (1/2 & 3/4) are your line outputs (RCA), the third pair (5/6) is the Headphones-plug. So check for the right setting of the first two pairs to the first two outputs.

2nd - check your faders: Vfx' faders can be set to AUDIO or VIDEO or AUDIO & VIDEO. Check on the VOLUME-faders and also on the X-FADER that AUDIO is set correctly so the signal would be routed.

3rd - check the main volume: in the toolbar at the upper part of the Vfx window check the settings of the DISPLAY and choose a thing like MAIN VOLUME or similar (it's german in my system). There should be a new small window opening with 2 or three parts (depending on your above settings, one for each pair of outputs). Check if the levels are set correctly and not to "0". A level of like 80% should be fine. Do it with your mouse and you're ok. BTW: turn the little CUE VOLUME rotary fader on the VFX-CONTROL. If you set all 3 pairs of outputs you should see how the third VOLUME-fader in the window is moving. you remember: 3rd pair is the headphones = CUE)

4th - Check GAIN: the other two very small rotary faders are for gain of the two players. Be sure that they are set somewhere in the middle and that they are not blocking the signal.

If you've done this you should have music on both channels. otherwise answer quick. I will help you to get rid of this issue.

best greetings from germany

Ralf

I appreciate the info. Thank you. Will investigate further. Have tried most of it already. But will double check that I haven't missed anything. I have spent over an hour on the telephone with one of the UK main suppliers and they are as mistified as I am. No matter how we tried to configure the settings I can still only get volume out of the right hand deck when both left and right are assigned to ouput 1 on the software... Will keep you informed. Meaning that I can only output both channels into one external slider on a nightclub mixer.

Hi thank you for the advice. However still cannot manage to output volume from the right hand deck through output 2. It will only ouput through output 1). Despite checking all of the settings are as you specified. It will not output any volume on the right hand deck, when it is assigned to ouput 2)

DONE & SOLVED!!!

@ Paul: nice contact!

For some reason the installation of the ASIO driver went wrong. After a reinstallation of the driver and correct configuring everything went cool. Now the system is running and Paul can give it a try!!!
