I'm sitting here, waiting to go to a gig, and as usual I've got a bad case of the nerves! This is nothing new, as it happens every single time! How do you guys combat the pre-gig nerves? Presuming that you do get nervous like I do!

Hey Kev, I'm always nervous but not because playing music but when I'm starting to setup my gear and packing it into the car and trailer I always have in mind "I have something miss to pack in......" This is my problem^^ I have too much gear and too many small important things which I can forget easily... The next nervous section is when finishing with setting up my gear and then starting to play (is everything working, have I enough music for today and so on) So I have also this problem^^ but it is not as strong like the beginning I started doing this. Now most of the parties are daily routine but when I have big parties the nervousness is back with full power. But at the other side I'm also nervous when I unpack new gear or know that new gear is at home and I have still 3 or more hours to work before I can go home . regards Christian

So I need to touch myself and have a few beers! HAHAHAHA! If I did that my wife would probably leave! LOL! I always think that I might have forgotten something important, or I might not have the music people want, or that my system imight not be good enough... Again, tonight proved me wrong. My lights filled the room, my speakers were plenty loud enough, and the people danced and enjoyed themselves to my music. I always worry - when I should be more confident! Perhaps we should form a therapy group!

Speaking for myself: if you stop worrying or if you are not nervous then there is something totally unusual going on Even Guys like Frank Sinatra were nervous when entering the stage for their whole career. This is what "belongs" to being a DJ. In former times people were dancing and the DJ was a strange guy, standing in the back and making music. Today everybody is looking at the DJ and you have to make the crowd dancing. So being nervous is usual I think, because no one knows for sure if his tracks work for today. What worked today, does not automatically work tomorrow
