I'm afraid it's time for another of my questions I'm looking for a good laptop, but I'm so confused as to what to get. I understand the specifications ie. processor, ram, hd space, but they all seem to have pretty standard sound. Does anyone know of any laptops that have a higher quality sound system built-in? Or even a maufacturer that makes laptops specifically for DJ use? I'd love some good advice if possible. -Kev

Thanks Daniel - I always do lots of research before buying anything like this.
I know about the processors, the ram, and hard disk capacity, but I'm looking for something with better than average sound performance. I know I can buy a better quality USB sound interface, but I'm sure that there must be laptops out there that are especially good for DJ's without the need for external soundcards.
Or would I be better off buying a MIDI controller with built-in sound? I don't know the advantages?

My little dj2go is surprisingly good, and perfectly capable of running a nromal gig, and also when I'm doing full dance mixes! It surprised me how good it was, considering it's size and very low price! My external s/card also works great, considering that it was also very inexpensive. My current laptop however, only just meets the minimum requirements for Cross DJ. Saying that, it has never faltered once - just keeps going, and keeps playingthe music without a hitch! Even a full karaoke night proved to be no problem for my faithful old laptop. I just wish I could find a laptop manufacturer that created something 'special' for us DJ types! Maybe something with loads of outputs for multi-channel sound - that would be useful! Or a laptop with a built-in mixer on the side...!!

I looked into 'Beats Audio' - the only thing that stands out is the speaker technology in the internal speakers - no use to me at all! As you ask - I'm going for the fastest processor - probably an Intel i5 or i7, the biggest amount of ram (6Gb in some laptops now) and at least a 500Gb hard disk. My budget is about £600-£700 ($950 - $1114) Also, some of these come with a 64bit version of Windows 7 - can Cross, or Cross DJ run on 64bit operating systems - more questions I know!
