Monitor buttons cut the main mix

Postby KevMaverick on 26 Nov 2011, 05:29

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think so!

I've got Mixvibes Home installed on a laptop with a USB soundcard connected. The software recognises it and it's set up as the monitor channel - however, when I click on the monitor button (the headphones icon) it cuts out the main mix.

Maybe I'm being very stupid here, but I'm used to systems where the main mix keeps playing whichever monitor I'm listening to!

The computer is a laptop, with a USB soundcard running as the monitor channel (which works using VirtualDJ...ughhhh!)

I'd be glad of any help.

  welcome to mixvibes and home 7   had this software sinces 2004, original home 6,,,this software is what it is a entry level program with limitations , mainly the monitoring set up   my first question is what are you trying to accomplish and what are your goals.  my first suggestion is to go to the product page and navigate to the Cross software and download the demo version, try that software  by regerstering on the fourm you have the option of UPGRADEING to the full version and using that with the usb sound doggle, which is what i have done. the next option is to get a two channel analoge mixer and route each output to the inputs of the mixer and send that signal to your sound system( the mixer monitoring section for listing to the mix)  will help you best i can

  trying to help before all the pertanint info :surprised: :surprised: depending on the computer that will be used,, the main limitation of a software DJ set up,,there are different options and avaible hardware to accomplish your goals.dont know if you want to go with using your existing tt or cdj, or if you want to go the route of MIDI controller, the U-Mix Control Pro and the Cross (full) software will allow all of thease. the U-Mix Control Pro comes with Cross DJ which is a MIDI controller software only.Cross software is progersing to the point of equal or better than the original DVS solution mixvibes started   good information leads to a good choice

Thanks for the response. :)

All I want to do is listen to one deck whilst the other is playing. However, as soon as I click on the monitor button, it cuts the sound from the main speakers! I've tried swapping the outputs and the problem persists.

I am a little wary of upgrading, as I am worried that I might have the same problem...

  inherent flaw with the home 7 software, by using a anolog mixer using the outputs to the mixer you can accomplish it . the Cross fader cuts the sound to the monitor section,, leave the Cross fader in the middle. the monitoring section in home is post fader not pre fader.

No budget for an analog mixer, unfortunately. I just wanted to create mixes with the minimum of hardware.

Would upgrading solve this problem?

Hey,

to my knowlege you can use Asio4All to combine the both soundcards and map them at DVS home to master and cue out.

Then you should be able to cue and master out (mixed sound). I will look at the forum to get some threads where people asked for those. Give me a minute.

regards
Christian
