First Mixing Report of the New U-Mix Controller 2

Postby Poertsch on 31 May 2011, 01:07

First of all i have now my Controller since 5 days. I had in the beginning some Trouble with the hookup in between my Soundcard " Audio 8 " and Cross. For information to other DJ's please take care that you use Sample rate inside of Croos with 48000. If not you will have Mikey Mouse Effect on your Mp3's.

" Problem was Cleared by the Helpful and very friendly members hear on MIXVIBES Forum" Thanks from my Side again for quick response in any kind of open problems and Questions".

So my first impression is that the Controller is very nice. All knob's and fader are at the place where they have to. The Cross-fader is very light and this makes you very fast in point of skills scratches and other artistic action on your Controller.
The main fader of the Players are on very high quality and the are a little stronger in point of fading but this is so and i like that kind of fading. The surface is very clean and clear. You will find all very fast and you will not have to read big books like a bible to figure out what function are for what. In the center you have kind of shift Button and all functions on your Controller are light Grey market. That means this are the Function what you will activate with the Shift knob. The cue bank is very easy to use and all buttons are lighten up when you switch them or they will stay on as sample the cue and Play button when in use. The hole looking are in my opinion are very professional. Its not to big and i can carry it in a normal Laptob bag and so i don't have to buy a new bag for the controller.

In point of the handling i find two kind of difference's what i hope that the developer management will change with some coming up updates. First of all Controller with DVS 7 is not working for now. Because the mapping is nor written yet. I was plan to start something on it that we can use it also under DVS7. Also what i was testing and find some difference's between Croos an DVS7 is. That you not can combination the Controller under Cross with Vinyl and Controller by him self. This means. I remember my Stanton SCS 3d and DVS7. There i had the option that you can play with vinyl. Switch than Vinyl Button off and you can start stop play with the Controller by him self. This is not working under Cross. You can only Start the Songs if you will drop the Needle back on the vinyl to start the Song. And then you only can change to flexible mode that the Controller run by him self.

" Please to developers give us an option that we can use the Controller as we can use Controllers on DVS7 together when you will work under Vinyl"
This will be fantastic and you have the maximum On Handling.
What i was seen also is that when you use the Vinyl Mode and you will scratch with the Jogwheels you have a short stop after release the Jogwheel. This sounds not so nice in the Club when the music will stops after you scratch for some milli seconds.

Please also here to the developers see if you can change something inside of Cross for the next update.

But for all other kind of mixing i can say this dam part is crazy. You can handle your songs direct on the controller with turn switch in the center. One push on Deck A or B and the Song will load inside of Cross. COOL. No hands on the Laptop. ;)

The Mixing Engine is fantastic and more delicate and sensitive as DVS7. This was my Feeling. The sync button works fast and hold the Tempo and Beats absolutely in sync. What i like is that when you mix with Vinyl and you adjust the speed with your pitch from the turntable and it is running then out of sync. Press one time your sync button and "bang" it stays all the time in sync. This is great. DVS7 needs here more fine adjustment. At the weekend i had testing in The Club the basic functions of this Controller. But i will to try more technic's on it to see what you can take out of this Controller.
Over all i can say that i don't regret that i was Bought this Controller. I will see home many new options i will create into my Mixes. I can recommend for all DJ's that you can buy this Controller and use it with Cross and in future with DVS7. This is an best price deal what you can get, where you have to pay at other sellers many more bucks for the same kind of Controller.

If some open positions are included in future as i was wrote down in my report, than we have an 100% horny :D Thing for all kind oft types in Mixing. Hmm Horny as second after the girls in the Club

Already built-in into the soiftware and I'm not sure your LE version will let you import the mapping.

Didn't see the DVS Ultimate into your profil.
Anyway there is no mapping officially for the U-Mix 2 you had to map it by yourself.

Please enter your DVS Ultimate license number into your profile, just below the Cross DJ LE one.

In your profile, you only have a Cross DJ LE serial, meaning you're only registered as a Cross DJ LE user.
Add your DVS serial to have access to the DVS download section and get authorized to have support about it.
