iTunes stops working now U-Mix controller plugged in

I now have the U-Mix controller sound card as the default sound card and have it working with Cross, but now iTunes won't play any music. If i want to just play iTunes do i have to re-wire my system so the output from my PC goes straight to the amp and re-select the internal soundcard as the default?? Surely not?! Can i not just play iTunes music through the U-Mix controller? HELP PLEASE!!

Also there seems to be a constant crackle coming from my U-Mix controller through the speakers, any ideas how to get rid of this? There is nothing when i select the CD player line in to the amp, only from U-Mix...

Solution iTunes: Which mediabase are you trying to reach? Do you use the default iTunes mediabase?

Solution crackling sound: optimate your machine for audio software. Search the forums, there are tutorials online!

iTunes: standard iTunes set up. Worked fine then installed Cross and U-Mix Control Pro and it doesn't work. Did play the other day but no sound, i turned on the U-Mix Control and it crashed...

Any more ideas people?? have tried optimising system but still get a constant crackle.

I hoper the iTunes question would be quite easy... surely i don't need to re-wire my system every time my girlfriend wants to play music through iTunes??

Now I am weird ... what do you mean by rewiring? And how do you use the iTunes player? You can use it in Cross, right? You still did not provide which mediabase in iTunes you are using. Are you using the default one? Do you have several mediabases?

You can still use iTunes with your main soundcard as before, Cross & U-Mix Control Pro has nothing to do into this.

Set the system default souncard to your primary souncard and just let Cross handle the U-Mix Control Pro with the asio drivers.

Now if you want to use your iTunes library into Cross, of course the sound will go thru the U-Mix Control Pro soundcard because played from Cross.

thanks, so i don't have to physically change the wiring of my set up with this? Not sure how to set the different sound cards up but i will try and get abck to you.

Steve - i am just using the standard defauly set up for iTunes, so it would be whatever that media database is!! thanks guys, will try and let you know...

Thanks I've done that, but hw should my system be set up?
Currently it is like the picture (excuse my art work!) but do i need another line, in red, going from the base unit to the amp to play iTunes ? IE without going through Cross? Does that make sense??
