Pionner's new controller....

Postby Jim B on 03 Oct 2011, 16:43

While I was having a lunch break at BPM I had a walk around the stands and noticed Pioneers latest controller, the new DDJ-Ergo, which was released at BPM

I Sent 10 minutes looking at and playing with the controller, I can say it's a very sexy controller indeed. I loved the feel of the jogs (some kind of stainless steel I guess) and the surface finish too. The feature I throught was really cool, was the lighting especially the backlight around the jogs when a track is playing.

It's shipped with VirtualDJ LE but like all MIDI controllers it can be mapped to any DJ software with MIDI learning

But, although Pioneer do make excellent DJ products I guess this will be some what overpriced like the rest of their gear is.

@JimB: indeed, it looks fancy and the moving light around the jogs is a feature they implemented in their CDJs. Nevertheless I guess you are right: it will be totally overpriced. If I am thinking back to the release of their DDJ-T1 and -S1 I guess this will be sold for around 1.000€ (800GBP?).
Did you have a look at the Allen & Heath booth? They released a new mixer (DB2) and a brilliant new MIDI controller: the K2. It is comparable to the NI X1, haters might say it is a cheap copy, BUT it has a two channel audio interface inside and you can link up to 8 K2 controller via LAN. Already saving money ;)

@kelt: It is like driving Merceds or Audi - a matter of taste. I had a DJM 600 for years and now completely switched to Allen & Heath ;)
Viele Grüße,
Cheers,
A plus,
Steve

it´s gonna be around 450-500€, Pioneers considers it to be a lifestyle product ;) People already joke about it being sold in Apple stores ;)

@Jim: you lucky basstard, i´d kill to go to BPM.
did you get your hands on the Xone DB:2?

@Steve: loving look and metal chassis of the K2, but i didn't see no encoder for browsing on it :(
